IThe events took place on 19 and 20 April. IGA Head of Member Services Frank Harvey kicked things off with an industry update covering Block Exemption and the MOT consultation, along with labour rates and other areas. Opus IVS UK Sales Manager Pasquale Vaira then covered the Opus IVS offering and the technology behind the products, as well as what UK support centre can offer users. The evening concluded with a high voltage systems session from IVS 360 BMW Master Technician Keith Witherspoon, who observed: “High voltage is a whole new world for technicians and it requires an entirely new set of skills. These vehicles are now already out there in large numbers, so it’s essential technicians have a complete understanding of systems and how to work safely on them.” Commenting on how they found the event, Liam Plews, General Manager at Motor Marque of Leeds said: “It was just a really insightful evening. Some of the information on isolation procedures, I’ve not seen covered in other training courses and it was a great opportunity to meet some fantastic people too.” For more information, vist:www.opusivs-uk.com Welcome to Aftermarket’s training section. Hillcrest Motor Services in Flintshire has in under four months completed more than 33 hours of training, which works out at 30 minutes a day. To recognise this, Delphi presented garage owner Ivo Civicchioni with a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement and a voucher for further training. Delphi Technologies European Workshop Solutions Manager Philip Mitchell commented: “Ivo has fully embraced e-learning and has significantly broadened his understanding when it comes to new vehicle technologies, so we’re really pleased to visit his workshop and celebrate his thirst for knowledge.” Ivo commented: “I've been to lots of classroom courses over the years but, the trouble is, they can be quite expensive. That’s why digital training has been such a revelation for us.” Ivo’s next goal is to get his IMI qualifications, with hybrid and EV Levels 1,2,3 and 4. He said: “You’ve just got to be dedicated, make the time and effort to complete the courses. I've clocked up a lot of hours because when I get going, I really do find it interesting. I can sit down thinking I'll do an hour and sometimes I end up doing five.” Delphi Academy hosts more than 200 learning modules, with more on the way each month. Looking further ahead, there are plans for more interactive content along with business training modules.
