Following a sustained period of growth and expansion, Bunting has appointed three sales engineers to its Redditch and Berkhamsted teams. Barry Drew and Michael Allen join the Redditch sales team with Daniel Scott joining the Berkhamsted team. Drew has over 30 years’ engineering experience and joins Bunting from a local gear motor manufacturer. During his career, Drew has assumed roles in procurement, operations, IT and sales. His interest in engineering extends beyond the workplace with interests in motorcycles and renovating a classic Land Rover. Scott is a business administration graduate of the University of Hertfordshire with experience in business development. On leaving university, he took up an engineering position before moving into sales. In a new position, Scott is responsible for magnet and magnetic product sales across the UK. Outside of work he is a keen Arsenal football supporter. Michael Allen is another addition to the sales team at Redditch site. After several years working in the retail sector, Birmingham City University engineering graduate Allen was searching for opportunities in engineering. Allen’s other passions include playing rugby for Redditch RFC and Formula One. “Our success and growth is dependent upon our employees and Barry, Daniel, and Michael are important additions to our team,” says Simon Ayling, Bunting’s European managing director. “We need people who have a genuine interest in engineering as our business is based on providing magnet-related engineered solutions.” Lee Lodge has been promoted to the position of industrial area manager at Mattei Compressors. Born in Southwark, South East London in 1966, Lodge moved to Ashford in Kent in 1976. His career began as an on-site construction plant fitter for Hewden Stuart and this is where he cut his teeth in the compressor world, working mainly on mobile compressors. During this period, Lodge also attended South Kent College and achieved City and Guilds Distinction in Mechanical Engineering. Lodge joined Mattei Compressors in March 2000 as a compressor service engineer. He progressed to a sales/service engineer position and in 2015 moved to a full-time sales role. Lodge’s latest promotion as area manager for the industrial side of the Mattei business includes a variety of responsibilities, as he explains: “Of course, the development of new sales opportunities for Mattei is key, but it also includes training service engineers from our distributor network on Mattei products on subjects such as trouble shooting, technical issues and correct servicing – as well as training and supporting their sales teams on how to sell the Mattei products.” Lodge concludes: “Mattei is an incredible company that truly cares about the environment and energy efficiency. Being part of the Mattei team and working for the Contaldi family has given me so many opportunities and taught me so much. I am very proud to be part of Mattei and love the challenge.” Industrial area manager promotion at Mattei Hard work has paid off for Owen McCaughey – for just under seven years after joining PCL’s customer service team as an office junior, he has been appointed technical sales executive for UK and Ireland. McCaughey has steadily worked his way up the career ladder since arriving aged just 17 at Sheffield-based PCL, the manufacturer of tyre inflation and compressed air products. His very first role involved answering phone calls for pricing, delivery dates, order tracking and general enquiries, along with order and data entry. These duties stood him in good stead to quickly progress to customer service administrator, looking after the internal account management of European customers and prospects, whilst dealing with worldwide queries. Through working closely with the sales team, attending exhibitions and undertaking technical product training, McCaughey gained invaluable experience. Two years later he replaced a retiring colleague in the role of technical sales support. He spent the next few years dealing with technical issues for customers and end users of PCL’s tyre inflation and compressed air products, and also the TECALEMIT brand of fluid and fuel dispensing products.
