The XD4 pump from VARNA PRODUCTS delivers up to 4 gpm (15 l/m) of oil flow. It is a self-priming and quietrunning vane pump for use in a wide variety of transfer applications with non-corrosive fluids such as oils and coolants. It can produce over 60 psi (4.1 bar) pressure at nominal voltages of 12 thru 24vdc. The pump itself produces flow not pressure. Like a turnstile, every rotation of the pump delivers a metered volume to the other side. Whatever system is connected to the pump has flow resistance, which is the source of the backpressure as the pump works to maintain flow. Designed for continuous duty applications with harsh and poor lubricity fluids. Maximum temperatures to 200 C, viscosity to 25,000 cst, weight 4 kgs, self priming to 1.5 metres, wetted parts anodised aluminum. At launch, the seven-model VSRT range was available with outputs from 160 to 960 kg/h, but with demand increasing for an energy efficient boiler with larger outputs like those of horizontal reverse-flame steam boilers, Fulton is now expanding the range and introducing two new re-designed VSRT models with outputs of 1565 and 1956 kg/h. Commenting for Fulton, Managing Director Carl Knight says: “These new models are ground-breaking for their output range! When you consider the VSRT100 and VSRT-125 models, there are no truly-efficient tubeless vertical steam boilers in the marketplace with similar output ranges, the VSRT is the only tubeless boiler available with the capability of efficiently producing nearly two tonnes per hour of steam.” w| www.fulton.co.uk The new 0330 Optical Sensor from sensing and instrumentation specialist BAUMER is the latest addition to its ever-expanding photoelectric range of sensors combining smart design features with high performance reserve capacities. Reliable and economical object detection has become a crucial requirement in today’s increasingly automated systems across a wide range of industry sectors, so the introduction of these sensors is well timed. Typical applications across a wide range of industry sectors include; intra-logistics, electronics manufacturing, textile machines and packaging applications. Whilst standard compact light barriers and photoelectric proximity sensors are widely available, the ultra-compact 0330 sensor provides enhanced performance reserve capacity with features such as 3D MCAD data and integrated beam path, as a starting point. w| www.baumer.com/gb/en/ www.baumer.com/O330 Optical sensors 26 | Plant & Works Engineering www.pwemag.co.uk August/September 2023 Process, Controls & Plant Whisper vane transfer pump AIRBENCH has announced the release of its new downflow booth model, the VertEx DFB. DFB is designed for use in highend manufacturing environments, including food and pharmaceutical manufacturing; but can also be applied in wider industry settings. Downflow booths function by providing a flow of clean, filtered air downwards from the roof of the enclosure, over the operator. This ensures the operator remains in a clean air zone at all times. Air is drawn in at the base of the unit, through primary and secondary filters, before being recirculated back through the final stage H13 HEPAs to the operator. A percentage of air is exhausted back to the workspace, ensuring the booth remains in negative pressure at all times. t| 01206 791191 e| sales@airbench.com w| www.airbench.com/products/ vertex-cross-draught-systems/vertex-dfb/ New downflow booth Expanded VSRT range SICK has announced it has added the UC40, a powerful and compact cube sensor, to its marketleading family of ultrasonic sensors. The company says the SICK UC40 sets the standard for wideranging ultrasonic detection duties up to 5m. Equipped with push-lock mounting and IO-Link, it can be quickly integrated in machinery, on conveyors and on automated mobile vehicles. The SICK UC40 is a versatile all-rounder for demanding industrial conditions, outputting reliable distance or level measurements even in poor ambient light, dusty or dirty environments. The UC40 also ensures reliable presence detection and position data independent of gloss, colour, transparency or reflectivity of the detected object. It is therefore ideal for use in logistics materials handling and packaging machinery, for example. w| www.sick.co.uk Ultrasonic sensor is a versatile all-rounder Indoor Ambient Condition (IAC) sensor CS INSTRUMENTS says its new Indoor Ambient Condition (IAC) sensor helps with this measurement task and with monitoring intake conditions. The intake or ambient air influences the compressed air generation and treatment. This should be monitored and evaluated stationarily with suitable measuring technology. When designing compressed air stations, the installation site and the climatic conditions throughout the year must be taken into account. The greatest possible challenges should be expected here. Large temperature fluctuations between day and night or winter and summer, lead to fluctuating delivery quantities and demands on the treatment. Since warm air can absorb more water vapor than cold air, more water vapor is transported into the system on warm days than on cold days. In the worst case, excessively humid intake air can cause water to accumulate in the compressor during compression. This can lead to a deterioration in the performance. w| www.cs-instruments.com
