Alex Wells, Editor Average net circulation July 2016 to June 2017 23,577 T op Technician and Top Garage are surging towards their conclusions, so thoughts turn towards the TT semi finals, taking place on Thursday 10 May, and the TT and TG finals, being held on Saturday 23 June. The winners for both competitions will be announced at the Top Technician – Top Garage Gala Dinner, which takes place in the evening after the finals. The Gala Dinner is being held at the Brampton Heath Golf Centre in Northamptonshire. This will be one summer event you want to make sure you attend. Turn to pages 30-31 for more information on the competitions, and the event. Back in the workaday world, auto enrolment pensions are a reality now and businesses need to make sure they don’t fall foul of the rules – there are penalties you know! On page 12 Adam Bernstein will give you part one of our lowdown. If only things really happened automatically eh? Well, be careful what you wish for, as on pages 14-15 Neil Pattemore examines the impact of automated vehicle systems on your business. We tried to bring things back to a more tangible level, but on pages 20-21 John Batten is asking how you test what you can’t see. Luckily for us he has an answer. On pages 22-23 Frank Massey looks at the prevailing technology trends, while on pages 18-19 Peter Coombes continues his look into EV and hybrid tech. Going back to diagnostics, Ian Gillgrass is back on pages 26-27 explaining how to make yourself into a great diagnostic technician. Speaking of great diagnostic technicians, 2017 Top Technician winner Karl Weaver is letting us in on his process again on pages 28-29. Our garage visit this month takes us to see convertible roof specialist Cayman Autos. That’s on pages 60-61. Looking ahead, we have look at what to expect from key exhibitors at Automechanika Birmingham on pages 34- 39. We also have all the latest on remanufactured components, air conditioning, tyres and tyre bay, as well as additives and cleaners. Now that’s what we call a packed issue!
