APRIL 2019 AFTERMARKET 23 www.aftermarketonline.net Garage management provider TechMan helped Swift Motor Services in Worthing achieve a record four months at the end of last year. Swift Motor Services first opened its doors in 1990, and now employs 18 staff across two sites. This growth necessitated an overhaul of Swift Motors’ business practices. After some initial ‘teething troubles’ following installation of the TechMan system in July, garage owner Glen Strachan undertook some on-site training with TechMan: “They helped us to tailor the system to suit our needs, and I was amazed to find that – despite the hard slog of the first few weeks – when I examined the figures at the end of the month we had hit a record for labour sales. As we got more adept at using the system we achieved better and better labour sales each month for four consecutive months. The ability to be able to see our productivity and the hours that we have available to sell has totally transformed the way we work.” TechMan’s impact on Swift Motor Services has lead Glen to upgrade to the ‘Pro’ subscription package, which will allow him to track technician efficiency and manage his second site remotely. TechMan provides “Swift” turnaround KYB Europe Aftermarket is celebrating after the fitting videos on its YouTube channel reached four million views. The channel focuses on difficult or unusual shock absorber replacements, and was launched in 2013. There are now over 100 videos, covering more than 380 vehicle applications. The videos are watched on average over 90,000 times per month, for 195,000 minutes. A spokesman for KYB said: “The most watched fitting video is for the front of Peugeot 307, 308 and Citröen C4. It is an awkward front shock absorber to replace, because in order to gain proper access to the top nut, the technician needs to remove the windscreen wipers, scuttle panel, brake fluid bottle and windscreen wiper cover cowl. In all fitting videos, KYB demonstrates the correct process for replacing shock absorbers, including the correct tools to use and the specific geometry settings. “Technicians that know of a specific vehicle where it is difficult to replace the shock absorbers, are encouraged to tell KYB, as it may be possible to make a fitting video to support them. Send details to QR@kyb-europe.com .” www.aftermarketonline.net KYB fitting videos hit 4 million views
