It’s all good though as we move ever closer to the semi final and finals. As we went to press, Top Technician round three was just coming to an end. As well as an online quiz that was appropriately more challenging than those seen in rounds one and two, there was an added hurdle. The open question posed as part of the tertiary stage of the competition allows those taking part to show the judges something of their process. This is something that can really be a head-scratcher, even for the most experienced techs. You can’t rattle it off over lunchtime perched on a stool in the workshop. It really requires commitment, and planning, and is thus a great representation of all the best parts of the diagnostic process. Meanwhile, Top Garage’s round two semi final round concludes at the end of April, and again those taking part will have found the challenge level take a step up. Everything the contestants do will help their businesses going forward, making the competition a very handy learning curve. Looking ahead Once the online rounds are complete, the competitions move into the live arena. Top Technician 2019 Semi-final (practical): Thursday 25 April Final (practical): Saturday 22 June Top Garage 2019 Final: Saturday 22 June Top Technician and Top Garage Awards Dinner 2019 In the evening on Saturday 22 June following the finals for Top Technician and Top Garage 2019, the Top Technician and Top Garage Awards Dinner 2019 is being held at the Jurys Inn Milton Keynes. The awards portion of the event will be hosted by TV presenter and journalist Helen Fospero She will introduce the sponsors. The sponsors will then present the winner and runner up of Top Technician 2019 with their prizes. As we have covered previously, Top Garage 2019 will include several categories for businesses at a number of scales: These will be sole trader, small businesses, medium business and large business. Again, Helen will introduce COUNTDOWN TO SUCCESS We have reached April, and Top Technician and Top Garage are propelling their contestants ever closer to success the sponsors at the Dinner, who will present the prizes to the various Top Garage segment winners. This promises to be a fantastic conclusion to the year’s events, as well as a great evening in its own right.
