The scheme also aims to help address an industry-wide skills gap, a problem highlighted by recent AMMS data which revealed 17% of automotive businesses now struggle to recruit suitable personnel. "People are the lifeblood of our organisation," said Peter Cox, General Manager UK Sales, "Motaquip’s investment in developing people will ensure we are able to maintain our class- leading levels of service in the years to come.” Motaquip’s first recruit, 21-year-old Casey Aucott, joined the company in 2016 and is currently a Customer Services Advisor. Casey has successfully achieved an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service and is working towards her level 3 qualification. Next to join was, 24-year- old Natalie Hammersley, who became a Motaquip employee in July 2018. Natalie is currently a Customer Service Apprentice and is working towards her NVQ Level 2 qualification in Customer Service. 24-year-old Angelika Rola is the company’s most recent addition joining in December 2018. Angelika has been appointed as a Product Planner and is an Advanced Apprentice studying to achieve an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. Angelika commented: “During my first few months with Motaquip my expectations have been surpassed, I am learning something new every day and I am very much enjoying the role. I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead and continuing to develop my career with the Motaquip brand.” www.aftermarketonline.net Garage equipment apprentices win apprenticeship challenge Apprentices from Autoparts Garage Equipment have won the Glasgow Apprenticeship Challenge. Louis Kane and Darren McCaig were awarded top prize at the ‘Developing the Young Workforce Glasgow Futures’ event at the University of Strathclyde Technology and Innovation Centre. Louis and Darren developed a interactive learning tools to be used by teachers at a local secondary school as a resource to promote STEM subjects for children with additional support needs. Louis and Darren are both on the Autoparts Garage Equipment garage equipment apprenticeship. The three-year programme covers all equipment used in workshops including electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and electronics. Welcome to Aftermarket’s training section.
