T he latest technology is making tyres an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Why let fast-fits and tyre specialists take your business? If you get kitted up with the right equipment and you will be ready to roll into the future. If you are able to identify a tyre issue for your customers, you will be in a very good position to action that work for them instead of seeing it go up the road. Have you really thought of doing tyres though? Leigh Stote, Managing Director of Tyre Stuff Ltd thinks it is worth your attention, but you need to be set up properly, and you need to pick your entry point. He believes that tyre pressure management systems (TPMS) represent an idea starting point: “If getting into tyres right now for the increased revenue and service you can offer you existing customer base isn’t reason enough, take a look at TPMS. This is a major growth area for tyre retailers and you can be at the forefront of this to increase revenue even more in your business.” It helps to have a basis for comparison: “For those not familiar with TPMS, there are service opportunities similar to replacing the tubeless valves as well as the replacement sensor market.” On the kit you might need, Leigh comments: “The T-Pro Hybrid sensor, as supplied by Tyre Stuff, feature a rubber valve stem which can be replaced in full similar to a normal TR414. Additionally, the T-Pro sensor is fully programmable using one of the trigger tools in their range. If a customer enters your garage with a faulty TPMS valve you can simply take a blank T-Pro from stock, programme or configure to the vehicle and make the sale. This is a great opportunity to draw in customers with your TPMS services and ensure you can supply a quality sensor to them.” Advice and support It might seem a little unfamiliar for some garages, there is plenty of support available: “TPMS is a little complex but it isn’t a black art you should be scared about,” says Leigh. “We have some of the best TPMS equipment and sensors around which we combine into tyre equipment and TPMS packages for those wanting to take advantage of doing tyres as this massive change takes place in the industry. Tyre Stuff can supply not only the products but the advice and support you need.” Leigh continues:“Tyre Stuff pride ourselves on the personal back up service we give not just to existing customers but to those new to the tyre fitting aspect of the industry.” On the tyre fitting side, Leigh observes: “The FORTS 322 from Tyre Stuff is the perfect machine for today’s modern tyre fitting. With a 24- inch rim capacity, built in fast inflation, double stage adjustable bead breaker and quick clamp assist arm it offers far more useful features than other machine in its price range. Coupled with any of their Fortis wheel balancers, starting at just £499, you can be doing tyres in no time.” Leigh adds: “So, if you are thinking of adding tyres to your service 40 AFTERMARKET MAY 2019 TYRES AND TYRE BAY Above: Don’t get under pressure; find out how to make the most of the tyre opportunity www.aftermarketonline.net TECH UP THE TYRES Find out how technology is making tyres a must-have add on for garage businesses
