With over 20 training courses available, the Academy aims to provide product knowledge, improve customer service and reduce warranty claims. It will assist Motaquip’s customers in promoting the brand’s range of Motacell Batteries. Each module takes a few minutes to complete. RMI Academy of Automotive Skills Course Spotlight The RMI Academy of Automotive Skills provides training for all aspects of running a garage business. It is the UK’s largest provider of MOT training with MOT tester courses running every week at sites across the UK. This issue, we are highlighting its Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment course. This course is designed for technicians whose job role involves the inspection, maintenance and repair of light vehicles. The accreditation provides proof of current competence and recognition of your skills, and has been designed for technicians who do not hold a relevant, Level 3 qualification or equivalent but want to become an MOT tester for class 3, 4, 5 or 7 vehicles. The course consists of two training days and one assessment day, and will certify a technician's ability to correctly conduct emission testing of vehicles, accurately inspect a vehicle, diagnose faults and correct repair requirements. It will also prove their knowledge of wiring diagrams required for the electrical systems of the vehicle being tested, and their skill to apply it. Participants will be assessed on: Engine and emission systems Electrical systems Braking systems Steering, wheels and tyres Suspension systems Once you have completed this course, you will still need to conform to the MOT tester eligibility requirements. You must have at least four years’ full-time employment in the service and repair of class 4 and 7 vehicles, a current and full UK driving licence, and have no criminal offences connected with the motor trade, violence or intimidation.
