To prevent brake judder, every brake repair session should include a check of whether the runout of the brake disc is within the vehicle manufacturer’s tolerances. Even small deviations, such as 0.05mm, can lead to vibrations that cause noise and/or brake judder. Textar’s conical adapter rings serve as both spacers and holders for the wheel bolt collar. A complete axle can be measured using these rings and a precise runout gauge is also available. www.brakebook.com New UV light cleaner from OSRAM OSRAM has launched the Air Zing Mini air purifier, which deploys ultraviolet light to remove germs from the air inside vehicles. The UV works at a wavelength of 360 to 370 nanometers and OSRAM says it has already been successfully tested against bird flu viruses. A photo-catalytic reaction kills viruses and bacteria cells before the purified air is expelled through the top of the housing. The filter can be cleaned with clear tap water, dried and reused and can also be used freestanding, making applications outside the car possible, including on office desks. www.osram.com Philips RacingVision GT200 The new Philips RacingVision GT200 is up to 200% brighter than the industry standard, making it the most powerful road-legal halogen bulb yet produced. The new bulb also gives an additional safety distance of up to 80 meters with the area of the road it illuminates on dipped beam, compared to the industry standard bulb.
