Mark has worked with the IAAF through his company Impression Communications for the past nine years, providing PR support for the organisation, and will assume Chief Executive responsibilities from 1 July 2021. Commenting on his new role, Mark said: “I am honoured to be heading up the IAAF in what is both an exciting and challenging time for the automotive aftermarket. We will look to continue the modernisation of IAAF during a period of immense change, bringing new opportunities, ideas and value to the growing membership.” IAAF President Richard Welland added: “I would like to thank the board for their efforts in ensuring a thorough and compliant recruitment process and we are delighted to welcome Mark to the role of IAAF chief executive. Working extremely closely with Wendy for many years, Mark has been at the forefront of numerous IAAF activities and been effective in expanding the Federation’s reach, highlighting the varied work IAAF does for members and the wider trade. His appointment as Chief Executive further supports the Federation’s ambitious growth and development plans.” For more new appointments, turn to pages 56-57 Colin Parlett steps down from RMI Board Long-term independent garage sector champion Colin Parlett has stepped down from the RMI Board. RMI Chairman Peter Johnson commented: “During the period Colin has been on the board, he has worked tirelessly to improve and grow the federation and its associations. Colin has demonstrated his commitment and loyalty to the RMI, often putting the needs of his own business behind those of the federation. He has sat on numerous committees and been RMI chairman on three occasions, and for this he was presented with the RMI honorary membership award in 2017. Commenting on the new guidance, DVSA Director of Enforcement Marian Kitson said: “MOT fraud effectively allows unsafe vehicles on the road, so we’ll come down hard on the perpetrators to protect the public and integrity of the MOT.” DVSA investigated 2,057 fraud reports over the last year, which resulted in 156 garages and 335 testers being stopped from testing.
