Training courses can be bought from ZF Aftermarket, or at a discounted rate by signing up to membership of ZF [pro]Tech start. Matt Shakespeare, UK Technical Sales Manager, ZF Aftermarket observed: “We were quick to move online to ensure the continued flow of knowledge, and many delegates successfully completed courses in this way. Yet in many cases, particularly where the course is of a practical, hands-on nature, there’s no better way to learn than face-to-face.” Matt added: “Membership of ZF [pro]Tech start includes access to ZF’s technical knowledge, discounted training courses, including those designed for working with electric vehicles such as our High Voltage Expert and EIP courses and free access to OEM service campaign information across all systems, not just ZF. This operates via an on-line portal and technical helpline.” The next available applicable course is the EIP theory which will take place on 1 September 2021 at the training facility in Harbury, followed by the practical course on 2 September. For further details contact the ZF [pro]Tech Team via protech.zfaftermarket.uk@zf.com The IGA has been offering subsidised Hybrid/EV Level 3 training to its members with a view to helping address the shortage of EV-trained technicians in the sector. 100 courses were made available at a 60% reduction to IGA members for £250 on a first come, first served basis. Courses have being offered across the country at RMI Academy of Automotive Skills sites in Lincoln, Winchester, Southam and Runcorn, and the offer is valid for two technicians per member site. Commenting on the move, Stuart James, IGA Chief Executive observed: “The independent sector needs to be aligning itself with the government’s future plans for EVs, and currently the number of technicians who are qualified to work on the high voltage components in hybrid and electric vehicles is incredibly low. The IGA is totally focused on supporting the sector and using surplus funds to help members grow their businesses and plan for the future, while helping to stimulate growth for EV training, is the right thing to do.” IGA Members can book their course by calling the IGA Member Helpline on: 01788 225 908 . IGA offers subsidised EV training A partnership between the IMI and cloud- based content and learning management system provider VOCANTO has resulted in the launch of more than 400 PC, tablet and laptop-accessible interactive learning units, covering light and electric vehicle technology, and the organisation is keen for industry professionals to try a free taster. Each unit normally costs £8 per module for IMI members, or £12 for non-members, and takes between 5 and 15 minutes to complete. Gamification is built into the system with medals and XP points awarded as units are completed. IMI CEO Steve Nash commented: “Working with VOCANTO, we have created a platform that puts accessibility and ease of use at its heart. Using the extensive IMI knowledge to build the content for the platform, we have been able to exploit the proven VOCANTO approach to the delivery of that knowledge. The result is learning units that are interactive, motivational and accessible anytime, anywhere. It’s a game-changer for the automotive sector.” He added: “VOCANTO is already well established as a market-leading e-Learning tool in a number of sectors. Integrating the IMI training content into this platform therefore makes huge sense and we are excited to be making this innovation available to anyone working in automotive.” To access a free taster module go to www.theimi.org.uk/cpd/basket IMI: Free taster for bitesize learning tools
