Aftermarket November 2022

O n the latest developments at UFI Filters, Karl Ridings, Sales Director UK & Ireland – Aftermarket at UFI Filters observed: “UFI Filters has recently introduced FormulaUFI, the new brand name that encompasses all its filtration expertise and the name given to the filter materials that have been selected and developed in the UFI Innovation Centres worldwide for the original equipment and the Aftermarket products. One of the most revolutionary formulas developed by UFI Filters is a stratified combination of various materials such as cellulose, glass fibre and hydrophobic fabrics. When combined with the meltblown fabric used in FormulaUFI.EXTREME, StratiFlex is the most efficient media for separating water from diesel fuel, as in UFI's GEN2 Plus for Alfa Romeo and Nissan; whereas for oil filtration it offers the best performance and less frequent replacement. It can also be used in cabin filtration, as in UFI’s ARGENTIUM Filters.” He continued: “The diesel version of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale is equipped with the UFI Gen 2 Plus technology as OE. The diesel filter is already available in the Aftermarket catalogue. The UFI filter guarantees maximum water separation capacity from the diesel fuel, thanks to the deep filtration system and the principle of coalescence. The water separation capacity is further enhanced by an external hydrophobic net, which acts as a barrier for water particles, avoiding the risk of a return into the circuit.” Scheduled Meanwhile, looking at the importance of following filter replacement schedules, Borg & Beck is recommending that during a winter service, all filters should be replaced in line with manufacturer recommendations, especially the cabin filter. Jon Roughley, Global Marketing Director for First Line, said: “Each season has its own effect on the cabin filter. By the time winter arrives, it is highly likely that the cabin filter will need replacing, if it has not already been changed earlier in the year. The added pressure of winter could also lead to decreased heater performance, unpleasant odours and safety issues, as the windows may 44 AFTERMARKET NOVEMBER 2022 FILTERS www.aftermarketonline.net CLEARING THE AIR Increasing engine precision is putting filters at the forefront: Find out what’s new and why keeping up with the schedule is so important not be able to clear properly, affecting the vision of the driver. To prevent a number of potential health and safety issues Borg & Beck is recommending that technicians advise their customers about the benefits of replacing the cabin filter at every service interval, or every 12 months, whichever comes first.” With this in mind, First Line, under the Borg & Beck brand, has produced a poster to highlight for your customers the importance of cabin filter replacement. Other engine components could also suffer as a result of low-quality filtration, resulting in earlier replacement of expensive parts.“ The move towards alternative drivetrains has also made an impact: “Hybrid and electric vehicles have changed the focus of where and what type of filtration is required. Electric vehicles create heat in the batteries that need managing with complex cooling and filtration systems to deliver a safe clean and reliable experience.” For more information, visit: www.mahle-aftermarket.com Multifunctional Commenting on the multifunctional oil filter module for the VW EA288 Evo 4-cylinder diesel engine from Volkswagen developed by Hengst and available to the independent sector through HELLA UK under the HELLA Hengst brand, Above: UFI oil filter being replaced in a Fiat Punto Left: Caremtix filter from MAHLE
