The remanufacturing process at AS-PL is constantly analysed and improved and allows for saving valuable mineral resources as well as power and water. Considering the process in an economical category, remanufactured products are a cost-effective alternative to buying new parts because the process is optimized to offer the best possible prices for the products. Additionally, remanufacturing with the final test eliminates a part of many potential complaints because the tested products are reliable. Each month we introduce new products to our offer, including alternators, starters, and components. We are enlarging the remanufactured items within the offer as well.” On how remanufactured components can help to keep garages competitive, Michał said: “The remanufactured components are a good alternative both for garages and their customers. Not only regarding the prices alternative, but also the quality one. The remanufacturing in our Production Plant is carried out professionally and a product whose properties do not differ from its OEM equivalent is created. In the time of the deficiency of materials for the automotive industry access to remanufacturing items are very important. This matters not only for the internal combustion engines but for the hybrid and electrical drivers as well.” Explaining AS-PL’s processes, Michal noted: “Remanufacturing is carried out in our production using advanced devices, following the high-quality norms and assembly standards for assembling devices using new parts. The process starts from the obtainment of the so- called cores from specialized companies. Our remanufactured Premium line products have more than 80% of original parts on average. Each product has a confirmation of the completed final test which demonstrates that the product is in good working order and is reliable. At AS-PL no damaged enclosures, bearings, and controller electronics are regenerated. They are replaced with new ones.” Excellent compromise According to Adrian Kitchen, Marketing Manager at Shaftec, remanufacturing is the way to go where possible. “Following the lead of OE manufacturer’s objectives of minimising overall vehicle weight, reducing emissions and improving efficiency of fuel, Shaftec’s remanufactured steering offer is heavily focussed on electrical parts – which of course offers all of this and more. “With an increasing number of vehicles fitted with EPS falling out of warranty and into the aftermarket, we are well prepared for a continued rise in both in application levels and in demand over the next few years.
