A ftermarket recently sat down with Laura Richards, Senior Category Manager at eBay. Laura led the development of the eBay Green Parts for Business platform, and was keen to explain the thinking behind the initiative, and how this is going to help businesses in the sector. What is eBay Green Parts? eBay Green Parts for Business is a business-only marketplace that was launched by eBay to connect businesses, such as bodyshops and garages, with sellers, also known as recyclers. These sellers are certified to be able to sell parts to the bodyshops and garages, who need the parts in high volume for their day-to-day business use. Why has the programme been set up? There was clear demand in the market. We saw green parts growing significantly on eBay and notably performing better than new parts – so we saw an obvious trend on ebay.co.uk that businesses were wanting to buy these parts. In terms of what is going on in the market, there have been considerable impacts on supply chains, which has meant that the availability of some of the parts simply is not there at the moment.
