A long-missing Rolls-Royce famous for its inclusion on an Oasis album cover, that has been the subject of a nationwide search, may have ended up as a banger racer, new evidence suggests. Photographer Michael Spencer Jones famously included a 1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow on the cover of the third Oasis album Be Here Now, borrowed from independent Rolls- Royce and Bentley parts supplier Flying Spares. The car later fell into obscurity after being sold at a rock memorabilia auction in 1998. When the record reached its 25th anniversary in August, Michael and the team at Flying Spares began searching for the car. Aftermarket covered the story in our October issue, along with many other outlets, and this helped to move the search forward. Neil Arman, Director of Flying Spares, said: “The car was linked to a Kent-based banger racer called Danny. He sent us a photo of a black and red banger. He was told when he bought it that it was ‘the Oasis Roller’. That really got our attention. If this was the Oasis Silver Shadow, it had a different grille, axels from a Series 1 Jaguar and a V6 engine from a Ford Granada, and it got smashed to pieces. That seems a suitably rock and roll ending, but it isn’t definite; There’s no paperwork to prove it conclusively, so it could still be out there, maybe.” IGA launches Workshop Utilities Healthcheck
