Sign the petition In the wake of the MOT Consultation, a number of petitions have been launched. A petition that calls for a halt to the government’s plans to extend the period before a vehicle has its first MOT petition has received the backing of the IGA, the GEA, the NFDA, the SMTA and the NTDA. The government is required to respond to the petition if it reaches 10,000 signatures. Then, if it reaches 100,000 signatures it will be considered for debate in Parliament. The petition is running until 23 July 2023, however the consultation period for the government’s proposals to change the MOT frequency ends on 28 February 2023. One calls for all hybrids and mild hybrids to go through emissions testing during an MOT. To access this petition go to: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6 32104 The second suggests that government should allow DVSA to include vehicles up to 5-ton gross vehicle weight for vehicles registered after 2022, for existing and new class 7 MOT bays that are properly equipped to cater for this weight of vehicle. To access, visit: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6 32088 The third covers standardising MOT test fees, and urges the government to opt for a mandatory standard price for the MOT so that Testing Stations cannot offer a discount. To access this petition, visit: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6 32295 The fourth and final petition from MOT Juice calls for the maximum MOT fee for cars to be increased to £85. This upper limit has not been raised since April 2010. To access this petition, visit: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6 32091
