Now all the contestants for Top Technician and Top Garage 2023 are in place, it’s time to consider the process from here To move forward in both Top Technician and Top Garage, you first need to have registered for your respective contest, and then completed the relevant first round quiz before the specific closing date. With these now passed, contestants for both main competitions, as well as Service Advisor of the Year are now set. Top Technician closed to new entrants on 31 March, and Top Garage did the same on 30 April. If you are reading the May issue of Aftermarket, but it is still April, and you want to enter Top Garage, you might just have chance. To do so, visit www.aftermarketonline.net and hit the ‘Top Technician/Top Garage tab on the homepage. Once you reach the Top Technician and Top Garage 2023 landing page, follow the instructions. Once you have registered, you will be able to nominate a member of your staff for Service Advisor of the Year. If the opportunity to enter has passed, fear not, as you can always attend the Top Technician and Top Garage Awards Evening 2023 being held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Coventry on Saturday 14 October, so you can feel the excitement. For those who have entered, now is where the real work begins. The process Top Technician has been running since 2002, so the process for attentive Aftermarket readers will be quite familiar. Now the first round is complete, the highest scoring participants will progress to the second round. While the initial quiz was fun, the second round becomes increasingly challenging as the technical knowledge and diagnostic prowess of those taking part is probed by the series of increasingly complex questions and scenarios. The second round will be drawing to a close as you read this issue. You have until Monday 8 May to complete the second round. The third round will then begin on Friday 26 May and run until Monday 19 June. From here, the 10 highest scoring contestants will become the semi-finalists undertaking the live semi-final on Saturday 2 September at Delphi Technologies, Warwick. From this group, the five highest-scorers will be the finalists on Saturday 14 October. For Top Garage, those who pass the initial round move to the semi-final, which takes place online between Friday 26 May and Monday 10 July. Contestants will face a series of open questions that look at staff training and development, as well as investment. Those hat make it through here then go to the final, also taking place on Saturday 14 October at Delphi Technologies in Warwick. At this stage, finalists are grilled by the judges. The winners for the various Top Garage groups will be named at the Top Technician and Top Garage Awards Evening 2023. If you are already in the running, you could be the one taking home prizes including cash, tools and equipment. For Top Technician and Top Garage 2022, the whole prize package was valued above £30,000.
