57 www.drivesncontrols.com June 2018 NEW PRODUCTS Displacement sensor can measure rotating objects Sick has announced a displacement sensor that provides high-performance measurements at frequencies up to 80kHz, even with fast-moving and rotating objects. The laser- based OD5000 sensor can also measure the thickness of surface coatings and handle difficult surfaces such as transparent, reflective, matt, white, coloured or black. The sensor offers two operating ranges – 65–105mm or 110–190mm. Two laser spot diameters – 120μm and 5μm – match it to the application. It can cope with reflective, rough or smooth surfaces, and can detect multiple layers of glass or transparent plastics, as well as transitioning from black to reflective surfaces at high speeds without delays for adjustments. It can also detect gaps, holes and thickness variations across flat materials. The 80kHz top measurement frequency allows height data to be analysed on high-speed production lines, even with rotating objects such as fans, and vibrating objects such as brake discs. Configuration and measurement evaluation is done via Sick’s SOPASAir Web server graphical interface. An Ethernet port in the sensor head avoids the need for additional controllers. Sick (UK) 01727 831121 www.sick.co.uk Distance sensors have a 5m range Leuze has announced a pair of distance sensors with operating ranges of up to 5m and a repeatability of 3mm. The ODS 110/HT 110 and HRT 25B L sensors have compact housings, making them suitable for applications with limited installation space, and for automated material flow applications requiring at least two different switching points. The distance sensors are characterised by high colour and surface independence, ensuring fine positioning as well as easy commissioning. Models with analogue outputs and IO-Link ports are available. Potential applications include multi-depth compartment occupation checks, and push-through or collision protection in shuttle applications. Leuze electronic 01480 408508 www.leuze.co.uk PI has announced a pair of linear stages in ballscrew and linear motor configurations which, it claims, deliver higher load capacities and higher dynamics, than rival products. The stages offer high resolution with small tracking errors and short settling times. They are suitable for applications with high demands in terms of dynamics, precision and smooth motion. The L-417 heavy-duty ballscrew model accommodates 450N loads on its 166mm-wide frame, with travels of up to 813mm. It uses a synchronous servomotor, as well as rotary and linear encoders, and can be re- lubricated without disassembly. A cover strip on the side, and a purge air connection, prevent contamination of the working components by particles. An optional holding brake allows it to be used as a Z-axis stage. The V-417 model, powered by an ironless linear motor, and using a precision linear encoder, offers a similar load capacity, width and travel range. The three-phase magnetic direct drive transmits a force of 87N to the motion platform, without friction. Smooth running at high or low velocities avoids vibration and simplifies position control. Like the ballscrew model, the V- 417 has a cover strip and a purge air connection. PI (Physik Instrumente) 01234 756360 www.physikinstrumente.co.uk Panasonic has expanded its Minas A6 series of servodrives with a low-voltage, high- performance version with input voltages of 24V or 48V DC. It says that with the Minas A6V drive transfers the advantages of permanent magnet servomotors to LV networks. The 200W or 400W drives have a rated speed of 3,000rpm and offer position, speed, and torque control. They are said to offer high efficiencies, long lifetimes, high power densities and surge resistance. They incorporate 23-bit absolute encoders and Modbus RTU interfaces, and support pulse trains of up to 500,000 pulses/second. www.panasonic-electric- works.co.uk Gewiss has launched an improved range of rotary isolators, offering a wider range of codes and other functions. The 70 RT HP (High Performance) surface-mounted isolators are designed for use as main switches to isolate applications from the network. They are available with plastic or metal boxes, in versions from 16–160A, and in control or emergency versions, with a variety of poles: 2P, 3P, 3P+N or 4P. The range includes panel- mounting and DIN-rail versions, with protection up to IP69. A padlocking system, concealed in the switches, takes up to three padlocks and can be locked in both on and off positions. Atex versions up to 100A are available for explosive atmospheres. www.gewiss.com Fluke has announced upgraded versions of its Ti400 PRO and Ti300 PRO infrared cameras with a more intuitive touchscreen interface with a higher contrast display and compatibility with optional smart telephoto, wide- angle and macro lenses, which can be interchanged without calibration. The cameras offer fast, one-handed operation to perform multiple inspections quickly and accurately. A built-in laser distance meter calculates and displays the distance to the target and snaps the image into focus. www.fluke.co.uk/ti IMI Precision Engineering has added Profinet IRT and EtheNet/IP connections to its IMI Norgren VM and VS ranges of valve islands, which already offer individually wired, multipole and fieldbus options. The VM islands are available in 10 and 15mm valve body widths and provide flow rates of 430 and 1,000 l/min. The islands can be configured from 4– 16 stations, with single or double solenoids. www.imi-precision.com High-performance linear stages offer ballscrew or linear motor options
