Since its formation in 2006, TEC has grown to be the UK’s largest independent electric motor distributor. Sales have increased by £1.5million annually, with an expected turnover of £20million in 2019/20. Supporting this growth requires strong financial stability, an experiencedmanagement teambacked by a comprehensive stock inventory. People and a strong teamethos have been at the core of success with staff numbers now approaching 50. In 2018, TEC despatched more than 150,000 units from their modern 90,000 square foot facility. In addition to the headquarters in Kidderminster, TEC has regional stock in key geographical areas: TEC North, strategically placed between Sheffield, Huddersfield and Manchester; and TEC Scotland in Cumbernauld, between Glasgow & Edinburgh. These satellite divisions add a further 10,000 square foot of stocking and modification facilities to the group. TEC’s growth has been supported by great products and innovation in manufacturing processes. TEC’s main partner, TECHTOP, are responsible for almost 70% of all aluminium motors exported annually from China. TECHTOP produce a wide range of IEC, NEMA and bespoke, specially designed products which enables TEC to cover all main industries within the UK. Three-phase powers range from 0.09kW to 315kW, and single-phase variants in both IEC and NEMA designs from 0.09 to 5.5kW. Shanghai-based TECHTOP employs 2,300 people in-house, encompassing all manufacturing processes and producing 2 million motors a year in a fully-automated, state-of-the-art 191,000 square metre (2 million square feet) facility. TEC is not just a standardmotor supplier though; expanding the product range is key to our UK growth. Ready to launch are EC (electronically commutated) motors with integrated controllers. This new range meets and exceeds IE4 and IE5 efficiency levels. Suitable for fan and pump applications, and are currently available in frame sizes up to 132 with a power output of 22kW. Saving space and improving system efficiency: available in TEFC, TENV, B3, B5, B14 or padmounting. The launch of our large-frame motors and MV/HV designs will bring further opportunities for growth. TEC UK hold motors in stock up to 630kW at 400/690V. Adding MV motors to the range up to 2MW in 3.3kV and 6.6kV voltages confirms our support for the heavy manufacturing industry within the UK and Ireland. Powers up to 8MW and voltages up to 13.8kV are available on request. A unique partnership between motor manufacturer and a well-respected UK drive partner allows TEC to provide a general-purpose drive solution from stock up to 22kW in IP20, or 7.5kW in IP66 enclosures.
