59 www.drivesncontrols.com April 2019 NEW PRODUCTS n Siemens has issued new firmware (V5.2) for its Sinamics S120 drives with an integrated Web server that can be used with Web browsers running on any device. No special tools are needed for commissioning, diagnostics or maintenance. Active line modules (ALMs) in 55, 80 and 120kW ratings can now be connected in parallel to increase the rating of bookshelf S120 drives without needing extra chassis or external power connections. This can help to overcome voltage peaks and exchange energy via the DC link. www.siemens.com/sinamics Wago has announced a second generation of its PFC2000 controller which is more powerful and has a larger memory. It can be programmed using traditional PLC languages or Linux. The new version supports Docker technology which allows software containers to be installed without affecting the software. The updated controllers can be connected to various cloud platforms and MQTT brokers. www.wago.com ABB has released a new version (6.1) of its 800xA DCS (distributed control system), incorporating technologies designed to shorten project timescales, reduce the impact of late changes, and enhance scalability. The Select I/O is an Ethernet-based single-channel I/O that uses xStream engineering to reduce project schedules. Independent teams can work in parallel and merge later. Pre-tested cabinets can be wired to field devices, eliminating the need for marshalling cabinets, and reducing drawings, equipment and labour. Testing and footprints are also reduced. Real- time information is now available on power consumption down to individual loads The new system also supports two new safety controllers (PM857 and PM863), providing more flexibility for critical applications. www.abb.com Sick has announced its first range of absolute encoders that support IO-Link, allowing quick and economical integration with fieldbuses via IO-Link masters. Having a master acting as a higher-level Ethernet interface allows the AHS36 (single-turn) and AHM36 (multi-turn) encoders to be produced in compact, 36mm- diameter formats. Advanced versions will allow“Smart Tasks”to be processed on-board, reducing the load on PLCs. By eliminating the need for an interface card in the PLC rack, the encoders can save time, cost and complexity when connecting to higher-level control systems, avoiding the need for costly shielded cabling, and for the devices to be wired individually back to the rack. The encoders can be linked to IO- Link masters via unshielded cabling. The encoder’s parameters can be stored and downloaded from the IO-Link master, allowing plug-and-play replacements. IO-Link also supports diagnostics. Even on the basic models, warnings can be provided for both application- specific and encoder-health parameters, such as position, speed or temperature out-of- range. Advanced versions, due soon, will extend the diagnostic data, and will add configurable output and input pins to enable direct interfacing with other devices, and to process Smart Tasks. The encoders offer a choice of mechanical connections, with a 270-degree rotatable electrical connection for M12 connectors or cable terminations. There is a choice of hollow or solid shafts, mounting hole patterns, and face and servo mount flanges. The basic versions are IP65- protected, while the advanced versions will offer IP66 and IP67 ratings, for tougher ambient conditions. An Inox version with stainless-steel IP69K rating is available for process environments with chemical washdown regimes. Sick 01727 831121 www.sick.co.uk Turck Banner has introduced a range of LED strip lights for hazardous areas which, it says, are more efficient than traditional types, producing 130 lumens per Watt, compared to 50–100 lumens/W for fluorescent types. The HLS27 lights are also directional, delivering light where it is needed. The IP67-protected lights have tough aluminium housings encased in shatterproof polycarbonate shells, and are suitable for harsh applications such as cabinets and spray-booths. There is a choice of eight lengths from 145–1,130mm, delivering outputs of 750 lumens per 30cm. As well as a built-in 50% dimming option, there are models with variable dimming. The lights, powered by 12–30V DC sources, are available in single- and dual-colour versions. The colours can indicate status, supplement illumination with indication, or provide coloured illumination. The lights are certified for Class I Division 2, Class II Division 2, and Class III Division 1 and 2, Zone 2 and Zone 22 locations. Turck is also offering a range of dome-shaped hazardous area LED indicator lights (K30L and K50L) with Atex and CSA approvals. The lights are available in intrinsically safe (Ex ia), encapsulated (Ex mb/Ex ta) and non-sparking (Ex nA/Ex tc) models. They offer five colours, with up to three in one device.
