54 n NEW PRODUCTS May 2019 www.drivesncontrols.com Portescap has expanded its Ultra EC range of brushless DC slotless motors with a two-pole version for speeds up to 40,000 rpm and continuous operation up to 330W.The 35mm- diameter 35ECS motor is available in 60 or 80mm lengths. A patented coil technology delivers high torque and power density with limited core losses over a wide range of speeds, without friction or brush wear. They can sustain peak torques of up to 2Nm for 2s. www.portescap.com Norelem has announced a range of plastic spur gears for nonslip transmission of forces from one shaft to another, especially where changes in the direction of rotation are needed. The gears, available in standard sizes with 12–38 teeth, are said to offer low weight, good corrosion resistance, and minimal maintenance. For more complex applications, they can be combined with racks or bevel gears. www.norelem.co.uk JVL , the Danish specialist in integrated motors, has enhanced its industrial Ethernet motion control modules to include the CiA402 drive profile for EtherCat.This brings support for EtherCat synchronised position (CSP) and synchronised velocity (CSV) modes, allowingmillisecond-level motion andmachine synchronisation with low jitter for demanding high- speed automation tasks. The drives are available in the UK fromMclenann. www.jvl.dk www.mclennan.co.uk HMS Networks has added four CAN FD repeaters, which support both traditional CAN and the new CAN FD standard, to its Ixxat line of CAN bridges and gateways. The repeaters allow CAN FD and CAN components to be networked using tree and star topologies, as well as drop lines. No configuration is needed, simplifying operation and commissioning. The repeaters come in DIN-rail-mounting plastic housings. www.ixxat.com/repeater Yasa , the Oxford-based manufacturer of axial-flux electric motors, has announced the first in a new series of inverters for propulsion and generation applications. The Si400 controller delivers 200kVA (400V, 500A rms) from a five-litre package weighing 5.75kg. The controller is said to be much smaller and lighter than rival products and, when coupled to Yasa’s motors, is said to deliver “best-in-class” efficiency and control dynamics, and to allow significant improvements in performance, range and cost for all-electric and hybrid vehicles. The Si400 uses an “innovative” thermal management system, including dielectric oil cooling and is suitable for use with induction, permanent magnet and axial- flux motors. Yasa www.yasa.com/controllers A new family of safety sensors from Pepperl+Fuchs includes four cylindrical and rectangular series with plug-and-cable connections. The sensors are TÜV-certified to the Machinery Directive (EN 13849) PL d, Cat 2 and SIL 2. They are designed to safeguard machines and plant components, and for position detection in industrial settings. The portfolio is rounded off by inductive sensors with a wide temperature range, increased EMC resistance and E1 approval for the use in mobile machines in safety-critical areas. The sensors do not need a special coded target and can be used with standard metal actuators. They have no blind zone and can be mounted easily without any extra adjustments. The sensors have OSSD (Output Signal Switching Device) outputs for signals and diagnostics that can be connected to safety modules or control panels. They have high characteristic safety values and therefore need fewer regular inspections and are easy to integrate into safety loops. Pepperl+Fuchs 0161 622 6308 www.pepperl-fuchs.com Flir has announced a non-contact voltage detector with a built-in torch for field-troubleshooting and verification. The pen-sized FLIR VP42 tester makes it easy to troubleshoot live and neutral wiring to ensure safety. The Cat IV tester quickly identifies the presence of AC voltage without needing to make electrical contact. It simplifies wire identification by sorting and tracing neutral and live wires in sockets and junction boxes. It uses both multi-coloured LEDs and vibrations to alert users to live voltages, ensuring that they will not miss these notifications in loud or dark locations. The rugged, anti-roll case can withstand a 3m drop onto concrete. Flir Systems www.flir.co.uk/VP42 AVT has launched a wireless vibration and temperature sensor which can be paired via Bluetooth to an Android tablet or smartphone running its Machine Sentry software, allowing machine operating data to be collected and analysed up to 50m away. The MSF-1 sensor incorporates tri-axial vibration measurement and automatic fault diagnosis assistance to identify potential problems and allow pre-emptive action to be taken. It offers continuous monitoring, reducing the chance of fault conditions being missed. The sensor can be used to monitor assets – such as gearboxes on agitators, and collection points behind guards – that would be difficult to monitor using traditional wired accelerometers. A combination of low-energy and classic Bluetooth protocols optimise battery life and boost data transfer speeds, while intelligent data compression utilities optimise the amount of data stored internally. The time waveform is stored in a high- definition format, giving maximum flexibility for post- processing. The sensor is the latest in AVT’s suite of intelligent condition-based monitoring and maintenance products.
