76 n NEW PRODUCTS June 2019 www.drivesncontrols.com Brammer Buck & Hickman has announced a range of own- brand power transmission products, including electric motors, gearboxes, chain drives, belts and couplings. The exclusive Mecaline range has been designed with manufacturers to strict specifications, while remaining “competitively” priced. The range’s three-phase asynchronous motors are available in aluminium or cast- iron bodies, in ratings up to 30kW. They offer IE3 efficiencies and good heat dissipation, reducing winding and bearing temperatures for longevity and reduced cost of ownership. They come with a two-year warranty. The modular helical and helical-bevel gearboxes come in torque ratings from 50– 4,600Nm. They are assembled by Brammer Buck & Hickman at its engineering centres across the UK, with one-hour construction possible “in many cases”. Accessories are available. The portfolio also includes V pulleys and timing pulleys, sprockets, and taper lock bushes. There are 26 different types of chain, including BS, ASA, ST/ST and brickwork chains. About 2.5km of BS chain and 1.2km of ASA chain are held in stock in simplex, duplex and triplex versions, along with spares. The range also includes more than 800 sizes of V and wedge belts – in wrapped and cogged versions – as well as couplings. Brammer Buck & Hickman www.bbh-rubix.com Own-brand power transmission family includes motors, gearboxes, chains and belts Omron has announced a family of 2,512 three-wire proximity sensors which, it claims, have the world’s longest sensing distances. The E2E Next DC sensors offer IoT functions and are said to reduce the risks of sudden stoppages by two thirds. They can also detect possible stoppages in advance and warn users via a network. Existing proximity sensors typically have short sensing distances, raising the risk that vibration could cause the sensor body to move too far away from, or to come in contact with, the object being sensed. Such incidents account for about 20% of all stoppages in automotive parts factories. The new sensors are equipped with Omron’s thermal distance control and Prox3 hybrid circuitry technologies that lead to sensing distances that are at least twice as long as previous models, and are claimed to reduce the risk of stoppages by a factor of three. The sensors’ characteristics are measured under multiple temperature conditions, and correction values are written into the Prox3 circuitry. The sensors monitor the distance between their bodies and sensing objects constantly, and notify users via IO-Link if it becomes too big or too small, allowing maintenance to be performed. IO-Link also allows multiple sensors to be monitored from one location. Omron www.omron.com ABB has announced new CPUs for its AC500 PLCs, offering improved connectivity, speed and security, as well as support for cloud-based applications. The V3 processors offer higher performance and extended memory, expandable I/O, extra interfaces, and improved engineering and debugging. The new PLCs support four different Ethernet protocols as well as OPC UA, giving easy access to variables and objects which can be viewed in Scada applications or used in the cloud. The MQTT TCP/IP fieldbus protocol is built in and can be used for secure messaging to the cloud. Special function blocks retrieve data from sensors and push this to brokers, either locally or in the cloud. The V3 CPUs have built-in HTML5 Web servers. Web visualisation allows remote access, monitoring, service and diagnosis via the Internet. It also helps to create attractive user interfaces. ABB www.abb.com/plc Parker Hanni n has introduced a range of rodless actuators for OEM applications. The HLR series offer high loads and thrust forces, allowing the use of smaller devices. Shafts and other accessories can be connected easily to create double- or multi-axis gantry systems. The linear-guided, timing-belt- driven actuators offer straight movement over the entire stroke, thus helping to create reliable multi-axis systems. They deliver load capacities of up to 3,847N (based on a lifetime of 8,000km). The use of square rails is said to result in higher load capacities and longer lifetimes than rival actuators. Two side lubrication ports simplify maintenance. The actuators are RoHS-compliant and have stainless-steel covers that give IP40 protection. Magnetic blocks are built in on both sides for groove-integrated P8S initiators. Motors can be mounted on four sides and gearboxes can be mounted on any side. Two base versions are available: the HLR070 offers a 2.5m maximum travel length and 500N maximum thrust force; while the HLR080 provides a travel length of up to 3.5m and a thrust force of up to 900N. Their external dimensions are 69 x 64mm and 82 x 76.5mm respectively. Top speeds are 5m/s, the maximum acceleration is 50m/s 2 , and repeatability is ±0.05mm.
