59 www.drivesncontrols.com July/August 2019 MULTIMEDIA n igus has developed an online service life calculator for 3D-printed gears made of its high-performance plastic, iglidur I3. The user enters the gear’s tooth module, number of teeth, width and inner diameter. They also choose the material for the gear and its mating material. The tool asks for the speed and the torque of the large or small gear wheel. Finally, it determines the duty cycle of the printed gear, the mode of operation, the ambient temperature and the safety factor. Based on these parameters, the tool estimates the service life of the printed gear. The gears can be configured online and a 3D model displayed, which can be exported as a Step file. The configured gear can be ordered by uploading the file to igus’ 3D printing service. www.igus.co.uk/onlinegearcalculator Couplings store offers free next-day shipping Huco , a brand of Altra Industrial Motion , has launched an e-commerce service that allows users to order couplings direct from its UK manufacturing headquarters. Called Huco Direct, the service allows small-volume orders to be delivered globally. Because of Huco’s flexible manufacturing system, it can offer free next-day shipping for standard orders. The company supplies precision couplings for industrial and commercial applications, including Oldham, beam, disc and bellows types, with varying degrees of torsional stiffness, vibration dampening and backlash. Customers can select bore sizes and specify keyways. Technical specifications are included for each product, as well as free CAD downloads. www.hucodirect.com Site simplifies searches for warning systems E2S , which manufactures audible and visible warning devices, has launched a newWeb site. An “intelligent” search function allows visitors to find the most appropriate products for an application by simple filtering. For example, they can look for audible or visual (or combined) signalling devices, junction boxes, or manual call points, for safe or hazardous locations. The site offers downloads, including certificates, third-party test reports, 2D and 3D drawings, wiring schematics and accessory details. Product guides, alarm tones, white papers and case studies are also available as free downloads. www.e2s.com Business software hub feels like a consumer app store Honeywell has launched an online hub where enterprises can buy software, technologies and services from Honeywell and other vendors. Visitors to the Honeywell Marketplace can download software for applications including manufacturing and distribution. It has been designed to feel like a consumer app store. Users can search for software by industry, vendor or other attributes. They can download demos. With Honeywell managing the billing, the store simplifies sales for software vendors, eliminating the need for them to invest in backend payment and invoicing systems. https://marketplace.honeywell.com Online tool predicts service lives of 3D-printed gears "MTPBWBJMBCMF 4PMFBHFOUJOUIF6, 3PXMFZ%SJWF$07&/53:$7 -46/*5&%,*/(%0. 5 ]&TBMFT!BOEBOUFYDPVL XXXB OE BOUFYDPVL Optimise  your machine, save Energy Making the change from pneumatic cylinders to electric actuators can simplify your design and deliver savings at the same time.
