The online tool allows users to specify items such as ballscrew-driven, ball-guided or belt-driven, slide- guided systems. It supports the RediMount motor mounting adapter kit – the new standard for Thomson linear systems, said to allow motors and gears to be installed in less than five minutes. All selections are now made on one screen. As you enter parameters, the system recalculates in real time, revealing instantly how each choice affects your options. Unlimited changes can be made without navigating to another screen. Once satisfied, you accept the choice and receive the complete bill-of-materials and ordering information. www.linearmotioneering.com Configurator customises split cable entry systems Icotek has announced an online configurator for customising its split cable entry systems. Users answer a few questions to choose the best configuration for their needs, first selecting the frame, and then assembling the entry frame, cable gland or EMC cable entry with the appropriate cable or adapter grommets. The configured product can then be requested online. Icotek says that the configurator is a response to the increasing user demand for more flexibility. www.icotek.com/en-uk/service/product-group-configurator Motioneering 2: Online servo-sizing tool gets an upgrade Kollmorgen has introduced a new generation of its Motioneering online servo-sizing tool which, it says, is faster and more intuitive, allowing the side-by-side comparison of multiple systems, and giving access to the latest products. New details for each potential design provide users with a broader picture of each option’s relative advantages. For example, safety margins show howmuch speed and torque are available beyond those needed for the application. Enhanced filtering allows users to pinpoint the most suitable products. Parameters and units of measurement can be customised for each project and, once defined, carry through to each axis. An updated S-curve profile allows jerk reduction to be adjusted from 0–100%. https://motioneering.kollmorgen.com Geared motor design tool ‘works like a car configurator’ Bauer Gear Motor has announced an online and offline configurator for its geared motors, which combines visualisation, integration with CAD programs, and the ability to produce PDF specification sheets. The tool offers users the chance to view a representation of their specified motors, either on Bauer’s Web site or via a download. The modular configurator allows users to combine options on an intuitive interface, similar to a car configurator. They can output CAD files or documentation as Step, Sat or Iges files for CAD programs. The data can also be exported natively from the locally installed version. Dimensioned 2D images can be produced on- the-fly, and 3D images originated. www.BauerCAT.com
