62 n NEW PRODUCTS February 2020 www.drivesncontrols.com Omron has announced a family of 237 low-voltage control devices, built on a common design platform, that span six categories including LV switchgear, electronic circuit protectors, and relay sockets. The Value Design products are aimed at panel-builders, and are said to save space and to cut total costs of ownership. Since launching its common design platform in 2016, Omron has expanded the line-up to include 17,250 models in 53 categories – claimed to be the largest in the industry. With the introduction of the new LVSG Series, Omron says it now covers 80% of the components needed for panels. The LV switchgear uses a proprietary screwless connection technology called Push-In Plus. The devices are suitable for controlling motors in applications such as conveyors and pumps. The unified design reduces design and maintenance work, as well as saving space. The products include magnetic contactors, thermal overload relays, auxiliary relays, manual motor starters, and reversing magnetic contactors, and are suitable for AC motors from 2.2–5.5kW. The electronic circuit protectors are suitable for 24V DC loads and offer protection for each branch. Compared to standard thermal magnetic protectors, the eight- channel models can reduce widths by about 70%. The rated output currents are in the range of 2–10A, making it possible to adapt to suit design changes. The Push-In Plus terminal blocks reduce wiring work and space requirements. Omron Industrial Automation 01908 258258 https://industrial.omron.co.uk/ en/home Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS) is offering a range of robust planetary gearheads from Faulhaber, said to tolerate continuous use and abrupt or sudden load changes, as well as being much shorter than other gearheads of the same diameter. The GPT gearheads have up to four reduction stages that can be optimised individually to achieve the highest power in terms of torque and speed. The design allows higher torques to be achieved at a constant input speeds, while lower torques can also be generated at higher speeds. Efficiency is said to be significantly higher than previous versions. The improvements have also led to low backlash, making the gearheads suitable for accurate positioning applications. The gearheads comes in three diameters – 22, 32 and 42mm. Compared to previous models, continuous input speeds have been more than doubled, to above 10,000 rpm, and the devices can support input speeds up to 20,000 rpm in intermittent mode. The 42mm versions can sustain an intermittent torque up to 25Nm, and are 71mm long. EMS 0118 9817391 www.ems-limited.co.uk Products4Automation (P4A) has launched a range of touchscreen HMIs preloaded with Movicon 11 Scada software. The high- resolution Pixsys HMIs come in 4.3, 7, 10.4 and 12.1” sizes and have tough aluminium casings. Packaging the Scada software with the HMIs saves time when specifying and commissioning, and the software licensing is pre- arranged. The preloaded software is based on XML standards and provides a visual environment for managing controls and performing data analyses. It includes functions such as vector graphic objects, dataloggers, schedulers, trend analysers and alarm management, as well as OPC and Web client/server technologies. It is compatible with drivers for systems such as Siemens S7-TCP, Mitsubishi Melsec and Omron TRI-TCP. The 29mm-deep HMIs include RS-232/485, CANbus, Ethernet and USB ports. An onboard soft-PLC avoids the need for a separate PLC. The HMI connects directly to I/O expansion blocks, which can be mounted onto its back, or separately on a DIN rail. Each rear- mounted I/O block provides 16 digital connections, which can be configured as either inputs or outputs, plus four 16-bit analogue outputs. The HMIs use Cortex-A8 1GHz CPUs and theWindows Embedded Compact 7 operating system. They have 512MB of RAM and 4GB of flashmemory onboard. The IE2 inverters have been developed to conform with the EU’s Ecodesign Requirement 1781/2019, which establishes minimum efficiency standards for VSDs and is due to come into force on 1 July, 2021. www.weg.net Schaeffler has developed a kit for automatic relubrication of electric motors based on its Concept2 lubricator. The“e-kit”can supply up to two points with lubricant, and can upgrade existing rolling bearing lubrication systems to automatic operation. The system, which prevents over- or under- lubrication, uses Schaeffler Arcanol lubricating greases (previously called FAG Arcanol). info.uk@schaeffler.com Electro-Wind has received UL certification for its transformers, auto transformers and inductors. In a week of testing, its class H insulation system satisfied the UL’s reliability requirements. The company can now produce bespoke 100VA–60kVA single- phase and 300VA–100kVA three- phase transformers for voltages up to 600V. It is also approved to manufacture auto transformers and inductors for the US and Canadian markets. www.electro-wind.co.uk Quartzelec has received Atex and IECEx Ex ‘ec’certification for its Rosenberry Hub which allows synchronous motors to be started asynchronously without damage, even in potentially hazardous environments. The hub is Ex- certified for use on S1 and S2 duty-cycle machines and is connected to the rotor coil and exciter. It is rated at 600A, 750V DC, and is suitable for speeds up to 1,800 rpm. www.quartzelec.com
