63 www.drivesncontrols.com February 2020 NEW PRODUCTS n Edge computing platform tackles ‘the biggest threat to control systems’ Mclennan is offering a series of hollow-shaft rotary actuators that take a novel approach to precise positioning of rotary tables and automated machines where a through-aperture is needed to route services or to maintain a clear line-of-sight. The IP65-protected HLMT actuators from the Danish manufacturer JVL have an offset motor mounting and come in five models with through-hole diameters from 20–30mm, and torque ratings of 5–142Nm. The actuators can be used with JVL’s MAC motor and ServoStep integrated servo and stepper motors, or with motors from other manufacturers in Nema 17, 23 and 34 frame sizes. They have built-in absolute encoders for positioning accuracies of ±10 arc-sec. Built-in home sensors are available, as are standard or crossed-roller bearings options for standard or heavy-duty axial and radial rigidity. Gear ratios are 5, 10 or 18:1 with higher ratios available on request. The actuators can handle axial loads up to 800N. With their high torque, axial load capabilities, low run-out and platform parallelism, the actuators are suitable not only for rotary-table applications, but also for machine set-ups where sliprings, wiring, rotary fluid power joints or laser line-of-sight needs to be routed to stationary platforms. The Series 5V axes are available in sizes 50, 65 and 80, with strokes up to 1,500mm. The multi-position system can be used as the vertical axis of an X-Y-Z gantry system, or as a cantilever in applications that need to move loads quickly over long stroke lengths, thus optimising machine cycle times. A pulley system with omega configuration minimises the inertia of the belt-driven system. The presence of one or more recirculating ball guides (HS version), as well as a special self- supporting square profile, results in high stiffness and resistance to dynamic loads, ensuring precise, fast transport of heavy loads. The axes have centralised lubrication via internal channels, and are available with integrated shock absorbers. Camozzi Automation 024 7637 4114 www.camozzi.co.uk Stratus Technologies has announced a rugged, secure, automated industrial computing system designed to deliver and protect business-critical applications reliably in distributed locations. The new version of its ztC Edge (100i and 110i) is aimed at users needing more processing and data storage for their edge workloads. Unlike a simple gateway, it is designed for critical business applications, including those that support the collection and analysis of real- time data at the edge. Unlike complex IT-like systems, ztC Edge can be deployed, managed and maintained by operational professionals on their own. The platform adds performance and monitoring capabilities, alongside a security feature designed to tackle what Stratus describes as “the biggest threat to an industrial control systems” – adding devices to the network that do not protect themselves. This is achieved using a combination a host- based firewall, restricted USB ports, improved authentication, secure communications protocols and a secure trusted boot. The ztC Edge 110i also has extended monitoring capabilities for better visibility and more fine-grained control. In addition, the platform introduces support for mixed fault-tolerant and highly available workloads, giving users the ability to meet stringent recovery time and recovery point objectives, while matching the level of protection to the criticality of their applications. The PTS 1.5 terminal blocks have a diagonal design and are just 3.5mmwide. The blocks use fast tool-free, push-in connections. A central surface on each level provides a space for clear marking. A double bridge shaft enables simple potential distribution. The terminal blocks are available in cross-sections up to 1.5mm. They have an integrated coding system. The diagonal design results in a user-friendly cable entry system. Phoenix Contact 0845 881 2222 www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Pluggable terminal blocks are just 3.5mm wide
