48 n NEW PRODUCTS June 2020 www.drivesncontrols.com Norgren has announced an ISO- standard stainless-steel pneumatic cylinder that resists the corrosive effects of process, chemical and washdowns in environments that are unsuitable for traditional ISO cylinders. The ISOLine KA/802000 cylinder replaces the earlier KA/8000 model and offers more features and benefits. There are nine size options with bore sizes from 32–200mm. The robust cylinder, which complies with ISO 15552, has smooth, easy-to-clean end- covers, while a contoured finish is said to improve the cylinder’s appearance. The piston rod has a roller-burnished finish, with both the barrel and tie-rods made of stainless steel for longevity and robustness. Improved low-pressure performance delivers smooth piston movements, while low leakage rates allow the cylinder to retain pressure for longer in lock-out systems. The cylinder is much lighter than the previous stainless-steel range, improving efficiencies in mobile applications and cutting transport costs. An adaptive cushioning system (ACS) allows users to fit-and-forget with no specialist knowledge needed for set-up or cushion- setting. ACS adjusts to changing conditions, thus helping to extend service lives. There is a range of flexible switch options which can be mounted on all cylinder faces, as well stainless-steel mountings. Norgren www.norgren.com Inmoco is offering a range of rod- style electric actuators capable of forces of up to 222.4kN, thus providing a clean, accurate, long- life rival to hydraulic cylinders. The Tolomatic RSX Extreme Force actuators deliver forces of 80.1– 222.4kN with 100% duty cycles in both the push and pull directions. The actuators promise enhanced control of speed and position, with a roller nut screw accuracy of ±0.01mm/300mm. Control is also more consistent, removing the fluctuations associated with temperature and pressure changes in hydraulics. The new actuators incorporate a rollerscrew mechanism that applies force over a larger contact area than ballscrews, thus cutting concentrated wear and resulting in higher load capabilities and longer lives. Compared to hydraulics, the IP65-protected (IP67 optional) electric actuators are also quieter and cleaner, avoiding possible leaks of hydraulic fluid. They are compatible with servomotors and gearboxes in frame sizes up to 215mm. For food and beverage applications, they are available with food-grade white epoxy resin coatings and stainless-steel thrust rods. The range includes the new RSX128 actuator which delivers 222.4kN – 60% more than the previous highest rating. It operates at up to 500mm/s with a maximum stroke length of 665mm and has an anti-rotation thrust rod. Inmoco 01327 307600 www.inmoco.co.uk Flir has released a combined non- contact voltage detector and torch with three alarm types for safer, easier troubleshooting and verification of electrical installations. The VP52-2 voltage pen is designed to: check whether 200–240V AC circuits are live before starting work; detect voltages on exposed conducting parts or through insulation; identify live wires in panels, switches, and outlets; and trace live wires and map circuits. The £31.70 (excluding VAT) device has multi-coloured LED lights, vibration, and sound feedback alarms, to alert users of live voltages, ensuring that they do not miss these notifications in loud or dark locations. It is designed to withstand a 3m drop onto concrete, and has a Cat IV 1kV safety rating. There is another model (the VP50-2) for countries with 100-120V electrical systems. Flir Systems 01732 220011 www.flir.co.uk/products/vp52-2 Festo has announced a developer kit that allows system designers and machine-builders to get to know its CMMT servodrives. The kit allows users to explore the installation, networking capabilities and commissioning software and to become familiar with configuring the drives. The drives include the 2.5kW CMMT-AS and the recently- launched compact CMMT-ST, which takes up less than half the installation space, needs less cooling and is much cheaper, but offers the same connections and communication facilities, functional modules and safety functions. The CMMT-ST is designed to deliver dynamic motion from small servomotors and stepper motors with continuous power ratings up to 300W. It can be used for point- to-point and interpolating motion in demanding assembly, handling and packaging applications. The CMMT-AS and CMMT-ST drives can be combined to handle installations with large and small axes. Users can choose between EtherCat, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and Modbus communications and the drives can be integrated with controllers from suppliers including Festo, Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell and Omron. Suitable plug-ins and function blocks are available at no extra cost. The developer kit includes: a CMMT-ST drive; an EMMS-ST-42 servomotor; and 1.5m-long motor and encoder cables. You can use Festo’s free Positioning Drives software to size and select components, and then turn to its Automation Suite software – which provides parameterisation, programming and maintenance functions – to commission the drive system in five steps.
