55 www.drivesncontrols.com October 2020 NEW PRODUCTS n Baumüller is now offering water- cooling for almost all of its motors, from size 45 servomotors to size 560 torque motors. The water-cooled motors are up to 50% more powerful than the standard versions and can be much smaller, while simultaneously providing greater dynamics and high torque. Because the heat is dissipated directly on the motor, they can be positioned close together without overheating, resulting in compact drive installations. Because the heat is dissipated inside the machine, the motors can be used to process temperature-sensitive products in the food industry, for example. https://www.baumueller - services.com/uk Beckhoff has extended its EL51xx series of EtherCat terminals for analysing 5V incremental encoders via RS-422 and TTL signals, by adding four compact, high-performance I/Os. These will allow incremental signals to be implemented in a cost-effective, space-saving way. The one- and two-channel terminals acquire incremental signals with frequencies up to 5MHz and offer numerous parameterisation options and built-in functions such as rotary axis, workpiece measurement and standstill monitoring. They have integrated sensor supplies of 5, 12 or 24V. www.beckhoff.co.uk Ruland Manufacturing has expanded its line of bellows couplings to include 57mm outer diameter versions that allow larger bore sizes, and offer higher torque and torsional stiffness. The lightweight couplings, distributed in the UK by Acorn Industrial, allows for bore sizes up to 32mm in a clamp-style design, with or without keyways. They consist of two aluminium hubs joined by a thin-walled stainless-steel bellows, allowing them to remain flexible under high torsional loads. The couplings can accommodate all forms of misalignment. www.ruland.com www.acorn-ind.co.uk Portescap has added 16mm- diameter brushless slotless DC motors with integrated drivers to its Ultra EC platform. The 16 ECP motors are available in two lengths (36 and 52mm) and offer almost 50% more continuous torque than comparable motors, without compromising on smooth operation and long life. The integration of the driver cuts installation times, reduces footprints, minimises wiring, and offers cost optimisation benefits. www.portescap.com Nord is offering a series of two- stage right-angle gearboxes suitable for belt conveyors in heavy-duty applications. The Maxxdrive XT boxes are available in seven sizes with ratings from 50–1,500kW and output torques from 15–75kNm. The gearboxes have a high thermal load capacity without external cooling and are designed to keep conveyors running under the harshest conditions. A ribbed design, combined with axial fans and air guide covers, means that no extra cooling is needed. Large roller bearings and centre distances increase the load capacity and service lives of the components. Nord Gear 01235 534404 www.nord.com Sigmatek has announced a family of variable-speed drives for controlling low-voltage asynchronous motors, which spans ratings from 0.37–132kW in nine sizes. The single-phase (200/240V) or three-phase (380/480V) FDD 3000 drives have overload capacities up to 180%, making them suitable for applications that need a high levels of torque for short periods. A compact bookshelf format allows several of the drives to be mounted side-by-side in control cabinets. They come with a Class A power filter and, with an optional filter, they can also be used for class B applications. Two STO safety inputs (SIL 3/PL e) ensure safe stops. There are three digital inputs and one digital I/O, as well as a relay output for brake control. The high-efficiency drives support CANopen, EtherCat and Varan communications. Parameters and motion commands can be sent to the drives from controllers, making complex parameterisation via input devices unnecessary. Diagnostic data, such as motor current consumption, can be be monitored for predictive maintenance purposes. The Titan Chain combines the best aspects of the existing GT4 Winner chain with new specifications designed to deliver the ultimate in wear performance. Precision, seamless, cylindrical bushes incorporating lubrication grooves ensure smooth operation, helping to reduce wear. The grooves keep oil at the point of contact, where it is most needed. This limits the wear between pin and bush, improving wear life. The pins have a special coating that provides a hard, yet low-friction, surface, helping to increase wear life further. Maintenance costs and downtime are said to be minimised. This, plus the reduced need to replace the chain, will reduce the cost of ownership “significantly”. Corrosion-resistant, nickel- plated outer link plates, combined with black oxide inner link plates, provide extra protection against corrosion. A ring coining process is used to connect the links, ensuring that the chain can be specified up to its full load capacity. As standard, the chain is available in sizes 12B to 32B. Other sizes, multi-strand and attachment options are available on request.
