48 n NEW PRODUCTS Motion Control Products is offering a non-contact absolute encoder whose output reading is the averaged outcome of the whole area of the rotor, making is forgiving about mounting tolerances, mechanical wander and so on. The DS-16 digital encoder – also known as the Electric Encoder – is made by the Israeli company, Netzer Precision Motion Sensors , and uses a proprietary technology that relies on an interaction between the measured displacement and a space/time modulated electric field. It is claimed to be the world’s smallest precision encoder, with a diameter of 16mm and profile height of 8mm. The absence of components such as ball bearings, couplers, glass discs, light sources and detectors, and its low power consumption, are said to make the encoder almost failure-free. The DC-operated device has a 16-bit resolution. Its rotor and stator are separate, with the stator housing the rotor. Its accuracy can reach 0.035 degrees, and it supports BiSS-C & SSi absolute encoder feedback. The sensor was originally developed for harsh environments and critical applications. It can operate in temperatures from –40 to +85°C, and has high tolerance to shock, EMI, RFI and magnetic fields. Motion Control Products 01202 599922 www.motioncontrolproducts.com ACS Motion Control has launched a precision SinCos encoder multiplier and splitter for OEM machine designers. The EM1024 single-channel analogue device generates two pairs of output encoder signals (four in total) from an incoming SinCos encoder signal, two buffered SinCos identical to the original, and two AqB with up to 1,024 counts per SinCos period. It allows accurate, high-resolution triggering of devices in demanding motion control applications. Applications for the DIN-rail- mounting system include: generating high-speed position- based signals or capturing position-based events at high resolutions with SinCos encoders; producing digitised encoder signals from a SinCos encoder for external devices; and providing an interface for motion controllers or drives that do not support SinCos encoder inputs. The system provides filtering, gain/phase/offset, and hysteresis calibration functions, with a maximum SinCos encoder input frequency of 700kHz. ACS Motion Control 01234 756360 https://acsmotioncontrol.com Emerson has announced a family of servo motion control products for high-performance applications. The PACmotion portfolio includes a motion controller that plugs into a PACSystems RX3i PLC backplane for precise, high-speed performance, and delivers synchronised motion of up to 40 coordinated axes. It allows users to scale up their motion systems without sacrificing performance. As well as the PMM345 motion controller, the portfolio includes servomotors and drives, and software for configuring motion applications. The PMM345 works only with RX3i controllers, simplifying the architecture, while enabling higher speeds and greater precision. The system incorporates a patented technology said to deliver precise, jerk-free positioning that prevents material slippage and production losses, and improves machine efficiency. On-the-fly reconfiguration allows users to implement rapid changeovers, without stopping production, to deliver shorter production runs and increased machine utilisation. Over time, the new arm will replace the RS10N robot, which was introduced in 2009. http://robotics.kawasaki.com Rockwell Automation has enhanced its FactoryTalkViewHMI software, giving it a new look-and-feel, with a simplified user experience and improved design efficiency. An updated application explorer allows users to organise graphic displays into folders and subfolders, while a searchable toolboxmakes it easy to find and add graphic objects. A new SQL database connector and data grid object provide information for making production decisions. The interface nowmatches that of Rockwell’s Studio 5000 Logix Designer. The new release (v12) includes updates to FactoryTalkView Site Edition (SE), Machine Edition (ME) andViewPoint software. www.rockwellautomation.co.uk Micro-Epsilon has introduced an interfacemodule that allows its sensors andmeasurement systems to integrate with Profinet networks. The single-channel IF2030/PNETmodule is compatible with sensors that output data via RS-422 or RS-485 ports. Two network connections are provided for different network topologies.Themodule supports data rates up to 4MBaud and can be installed on a DIN rail in cabinets. www.micro-epsilon.co.uk WEG has expanded the torque range of itsWG20 series of gearedmotors to cover ratings from50Nm to 18kNm (compared to the previous 50Nm– 1.55kNm).The range includes helical, parallel shaft and helical-bevel technologies and is the first geared motor range to be developed entirely in-house byWEG.The gearboxes have a standard footprint, and can be retrofitted easily without adjusting peripheral equipment. https://weg-wg20.com After extensive testing, the European Hygienic Engineering&Design Group (EHEDG) has awarded Interroll ’s current drummotors Class 1 certification, allowing them to be used in hygienic applications. The hygienic design of themotors is standard and does not have to be achieved through costly design changes. www.interroll.com November/December 2020 www.drivesncontrols.com 16mm-diameter, non-contact absolute precision encoder is ‘world’s smallest’
