Brook Crompton have been designing, manufacturing and supplying electric motors for over 100 years. The most recent product to be launched by the company is the excitingWEX3 Zone 1 hazardous area motor. Its DNA pool is the wealth of experience, technical expertise and equally important application understanding from sister companies ATB Schorch, ATB Nordenham and Wolong CNE - between them all they have an accumulated design heritage with hazardous area motors for well over 300 years. New legislation being introduced on 1st July calls for hazardous area motors between 0.75kW to 1000Kw (2p - 8p up to 375kW and 2p - 6p above 375kW) to meet the IE3 premium efficiency level, a significant step up from today’s IE1 standard efficiency requirement. Always up for the challenge, the design team has taken the opportunity to not only meet the upcoming efficiency levels, but also to incorporate some of the features from their award winning “W”motor range and create a leading hazardous area product specification suitable for use throughout the world. “We really wanted to take this opportunity to create a product specification that would allow the stock motor to satisfy as much of the customers demand as possible”Richard Eason, CEO of the Brook Crompton Group. Introducing the NEWWEX3 Range; IE3 for Zone 1 COVER STORY For further information, please contact sales@brookcrompton.com The range is dual certified by both ATEX and IECEX for gas and for dust environments, with the certification process conducted in the EU by CNEX Global BV in the Netherlands, the motor will also carry UKCA and CE markings. Each motor will have both the ATEX and IECEX details on the nameplate as standard. The range details are:- • 0.37kw to 355kw • 2 to 8 pole • IP55 • 230/400 & 400/690 50hz and 460 60hz rated voltage (1140v optional) Key features include:- • -15 ºc to +40 ºc with option for -40 ºc to + 60 ºc • Suitable for inverter use at both 400v and 690v • 3 x PTC as standard with PT100 as an option • Solid or detachable feet allowing flexible t box position • T Box rotates 4 x 90 ºc allowing flexible cable entry • Interchangeable T Box to convert“d”to “de”and the reverse. • C3 standard paint with up to C5M as standard options Both Brook Crompton and sister company Wolong EMEA are implementing stocks dedicated to serve the European market in accordance with local needs. The stock profile will cover Ex db IIB T4 (full flameproof enclosure) and Ex db eb IIC T4 (flameproof motor with increased safety terminal box) Outputs up to 375 kw will be stocked in enclosure – IP55 – C3 Paint – PTC with heater from frame size 250 and above as standard. In addition, the extended capabilities of the range allow theWEX3 to fulfil the OEM specifications under request.
