45 www.drivesncontrols.com January 2021 NEW PRODUCTS n Nabtesco has developed a range of servo gearboxes that, instead of needing a separate interface to connect each type of servomotor, use a modular system that adapts easily to almost any motor. By combining standardised elements, the Neco cycloidal gearboxes can attach to a wide range of motors, speeding up assembly and reducing delivery times. Alignment of the drive pinion is no longer necessary. The motor shaft is adapted using a low-inertia radial clamping ring that reduces inertia by up to 39%. Three sizes are available in the UK from RA Rodriguez (25, 42 and 125mm, with maximum acceleration/ deceleration torques of 612, 1,029 and 3,062Nm), with more models to follow. The corrosion-protected cycloidal gears are ideal for applications where backlash and positioning accuracy are important. They allow ratios to be reduced from 30:1 to more than 300:1 without additional pre-stages. Another advantage over planetary gears is that they are about 50% shorter, and lighter. They achieve high precision with a hysteresis loss of 0.5 arc-min, and offer high overload capacities and torsional rigidity. The enclosed gearboxes can withstand shock loads up to five times their rated torque. An online configurator helps to create custom gearboxes quickly and easily. RA Rodriguez 01462 670 044 www.rarodriguez.co.uk Ifm has announced a series of IP67- protected incremental shaft encoders that can be used in wet environments. The Rx3000 encoders are based on an advanced magnetic sensing technology which means that they are robust, yet can match the accuracy of photoelectric encoders. The encoders can be programmed with resolutions from 2 to 10,000 pulses per revolution and can provide TTL or HTL outputs. They also incorporate an IO-Link interface which can be used to capture data and diagnostic information, as well as for parameterisation. The encoders use standard fittings and are available in solid- or hollow-shaft versions. There is a choice between M12 connectors (positioned either radially or axially) or pre-wired connections. Operating voltages are from 4.75–30V DC, and the maximum switching frequency is 1MHz. Accessories include spring- disc and flexible couplings, measuring wheels and brackets. ifm electronic 020 82132222 www.ifm.com/gb/en Nidec Leroy-Somer has announced a range of IE5 synchronous reluctance permanent magnet (PM) motors, with rare-earth-free rotors, in ratings from 11–500kW. The motors are designed for variable-speed applications up to 4,500 rpm – in particular, industrial refrigeration, where loads can fluctuate widely depending on the season and production levels. The new motors are based on the same mechanical platform as Leroy-Somer’s IMfinity induction motors, making them robust with long operating lives. They are designed for ease of installation, set-up and maintenance. With low rotor losses, the magnetic synchronous reluctance technology cuts maintenance costs – in particular, by extending lubrication intervals. They are available in aluminium or cast-iron housings, with IP55 or IP23 protection. The motors’ high efficiency makes it possible to increase the coefficient of performance in refrigeration applications. Using them with VSDs can boost refrigeration capacity, avoiding the need to start more compressors during demand peaks. It can also allow fewer compressors to be installed.
