48 n NEW PRODUCTS Faulhaber has produced its first multi-turn absolute encoder, which can count the number of revolutions as well as the degree of rotation. The AEMT- 12/16 L magnetic encoders, available in the UK from EMS , can also measure long linear movements where using a linear encoder would not be possible. The encoders offer a single- turn resolution of 12 bits (4,096 steps) as well as a pre-set multi- turn resolution of 16 bits (65,536 revolutions). They can be combined with Faulhaber’s B, BX4 and BP4 brushless DC motors to deliver absolute angle information. A synchronous serial interface with the BiSS-C (bidirectional serial synchronous continuous) protocol transmits position data from the encoder in real time. An amplifying line driver allows the controller interface to be positioned up to 5m away from the motor and encoder. The encoders can be powered by a main power supply, energy storage or a backup battery, which can provide enough energy to detect motor revolutions and alter the multi-turn count if the main supply fails. A new reference run is not necessary when the supply returns. EMS 0118 9817391 www.ems-limited.co.uk SEW Eurodrive has added a series of servomotors to its portfolio for applications where a low ratio of load moment of inertia to motor moment of inertia is desired. The CM3C.. motors, which form part of the Movi C modular automation system, are available in sizes 63, 71, 80 and 100, and offer standstill torques from 2.7–40Nm and peak torques from 8–120Nm. There are two brake versions. As well as a 24V holding brake, there is a brake with increased working capacity for applications where service braking or emergency braking is needed. A single-cable option allows automatic start-up when the motors are connected to SEW inverters. The encoder and brake control signals are transmitted digitally. An“intelligent”current- controlled brake rectifier is being developed for the brake's AC connection. This will handle input voltages from 100–500V and provide enhanced diagnostics for determining the switching status and monitoring wear. The servomotors can be combined with modular gearboxes. In future, they will be offered with standard SEW encoder systems and with Drive- CLiQ, EnDat 2.2 and Hiperface DSL encoders. SEW Eurodrive www.sew-eurodrive.de/cm3c Belden has released a managed switch with up to 24 ports for compact, powerful networking of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The Hirschmann Bobcat high-port switch supports TSN (time-sensitive networking) allowing multiple services on a network, while ensuring deterministic communications. The switch combines a high bandwidth and port count, with a rugged design. Advanced security functions include wire- speed access control lists and automatic denial-of-service prevention. Power output is maximised by using Power over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+) ports that do not need load sharing. The 500kg payload capacity Motoman- PL robots are said to cut energy consumption by up to 30% thanks to their YRC1000 controller which incorporates a power regeneration capability, capturing energy when the arm’s motors decelerate. A single-cable connection between the controller and the robot cuts wiring and set-up times. A large-diameter hollow structure for the wrist shaft eliminates the risk of services interfering with peripheral equipment or the arm itself. If the communication line inside the manipulator becomes disconnected or an encoder error occurs in an axis servomotor, an alarm is shown on the programming pendant. Yaskawa’s Motopal software generates robot programs automatically simply by setting conveyor and station positions, product sizes and load patterns. Both have a maximum payload of 35kg and a reach of 1,831mm. A new drivetrain allows the robots to handle heavier workpieces or weld torches at higher inertias, while maintaining a repeatability of up to ±0.03mm. The robots have IP67 ratings for the upper arm and wrist axes, protecting them against splashes or dust. Both robots are operated by the R-30iB Plus controller. https://www.fanuc.eu/uk/en ControlTechniques has launched a Powerlink option module for its Unidrive, Digitax and Commander VSD ranges. The SI-Powerlink module offers cyclic (PDO) and non-cyclic (SDO) access to all drive parameters, with PDO cycle times down to 500μs. Additionally, it supports drive-to-drive synchronisation on the Unidrive M600, M70X and Digitax HDM75X models. The module is suitable for applications from simple open-loop systems to precise motion control. www.controltechniques.com Rockwell Automation has expanded its Allen-Bradley Bulletin 100-E line of IEC contactors with new sizes from 9–96A. The contactors save energy by reducing inrush apparent power (VA) by up to 68% and sealed VA by more than 75% compared to non-electronic coils. The electronic coils also save engineering time by covering 20– 500V AC/DC voltages with four coils, simplifying selection. The coil input terminals can be moved from the line to load side of the contactors without disassembly, saving time when building starters. There is a direct PLC interface option for contactors above 100A. www.rockwellautomation.com/en-gb
