61 www.drivesncontrols.com July/August 2021 NEW PRODUCTS n Danfoss has improved the flying start function on its high-power VLT drives, allowing induction motors controlled by the drives to recover up to four times faster from mains drop-outs. The function catches a motor that is spinning freely due to a drop-out or windmilling. It allows drives operating at up to 132Hz to synchronise with a motor rotating at up to full speed in either direction, avoiding trips caused by over-currents. It also reduces mechanical stresses because there is no abrupt change in motor speed when the drive restarts. www.danfoss.com RS Components has announced a range of industrial wiring and connection products to be sold under its RS Pro brand. The products span connectors (including circular, heavy-duty, power and DIN types), cables, cable glands, cable assemblies and accessories, aimed at automation and Ethernet networking applications. Since the start of 2021, RS’cable and connector portfolio has added almost 3,000 new products in 65 families – an increase of more than 40%. https://uk.rs - online.com/web/generalDisplay .html?id=rspro ABB has announced IP67, Foundry Plus 2 and cleanroom ISO 4 versions of its six-axis IRB 1300 industrial robot, which can be used in tough processes with high levels of liquid and dust. All of the electrical components are sealed. The Foundry Plus 2 versions use stainless steel on their end- effectors to prevent rusting, helping to prolong their lives, and minimising disruption caused by downtime and unscheduled repairs. The IRB 1300 ISO 4 cleanroom versions use chemical- resistant paint and minimise the number of gaps where bacteria could form. https://new.abb.com/products/ robotics KEB Automation has extended its Combivert F6 range of compact single-axis drive controllers with a wider choice of power ratings from 2.2–450kW. The company says that the new models will allow users to implement machine concepts that require extended power, communications and integrated safety. As well as controlling synchronous, asynchronous, permanent magnet, synchronous reluctance, linear, high-torque and high- speed motors, the drives offer automatic anti-cogging and optimised torque pre-control for linear and non-linear kinematics. www.keb.co.uk Phoenix Contact has announced an easy-to-use device that, it says, bridges the gap between motor starters and frequency converters. The Contactron Speed Starter allows safe, simple, and efficient operation of three-phase asynchronous motors, offering functions including normal speed, creeping speed, soft start, energy efficiency and ramps, as well as STO (Safe Torque Off ) safe stopping. The device available in ratings from 0.25-1.5kW, with or without EMC filters, and for operation from single- or three-phase supplies. The operator interface consists of a rotary switch and three buttons with a display. The DIN-rail-mounting device comes in widths from 35mm – claimed to be the narrowest in its class. The terminal connections use a push-in technology. Phoenix Contact 01952 681700 www.phoenixcontact.com/onli ne/portal/gb ifm has released a kit that makes it easier to connect IO-Link sensors to PCs for parameterisation and data retrieval. The ZZ1060 IO-Link master kit is said to be is particularly useful when setting up new plants, because all of the sensors can be configured before installation, cutting commissioning time. And, when replacing faulty or damaged sensors, they can be preconfigured, reducing the risk of errors and minimising downtime. The kit, designed for use with all types of IO-Link sensor, comprises of an AL1060 IO-Link master with a USB port, a USB cable to link the master to the PC, and a cable to link the sensor to the master. There is also a USB stick with the latest version of ifm’s LR Device software, which allows the PC to access and modify settings on the sensor and, where appropriate, to retrieve operating and diagnostic data. The master has a voltage converter which usually makes it unnecessary to provide a separate supply for the sensor. Instead, the converter takes 5V from the PC’s USB port and converts it to 24V DC for the sensor. Sensors requiring up to 150mA can be powered in this way. ifm electronic www.ifm.com/gb/en/shared/pr oduct-news/2020/sps/connect- io-link-to-a-pc-via-usb Device bridges the gap between motor starters and converters Mitsubishi Electric has launched two 12.1-inch widescreen graphic operation terminals (GOTs) in a choice of black or silver narrow-bezel frames. The HMIs, part of the GOT2000 Series, are available with new anti-bacterial, anti-viral protection sheets that are said to inactivate 99.99% of viruses and to reduce bacterial growth to less than 1%. Connections on the GT2512- WXTSD (silver) and GT2512- WXTBD (black) HMIs include two Ethernet ports, RS-232 and RS- 422/485 serial ports, USB-A and an SD memory card slot. A wireless LAN is also built in. The terminals support remote connections where user access may be limited, with functions such as SoftGOT allowing remote maintenance via the local GOT screen. Operators can also obtain live data using GOT Mobile. The optional antibacterial sheets are SIAA-certified, and have been evaluated in accordance with the ISO 22196 and ISO 21702 standards. The sheets, which are effective for more than ten years in typical environments, are also available for Mitsubishi’s GT27 and GT25 GOTs in 12.1, 10.4 and 8.4 inch sizes.
