63 www.drivesncontrols.com October 2021 NEW PRODUCTS n Phoenix Contact has announced a pair of unmanaged Ethernet switches for field installation. The 1608 and 1708 variants of the company’s FL Switch 1000 family offer IP65/IP66/ IP67 protection and make it easier to integrate distributed sensors, actuators, cameras and I/O stations into a network. The rugged housing offers many options for mounting positions. M12 connections allow users to choose between using classic M12 connectors with screw connections, or Phoenix’s M12 Push-Pull fast-locking system. The unmanaged switches support the Quality of Service (QoS) functions for automation protocol prioritisation. Phoenix Contact 0845 881 2222 www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Micro-Epsilon has announced a laser line triangulation sensor for distance measurements on shiny, metallic, rough and structured surfaces. The optoNCDT 1900 LL sensor uses a cylindrical lens that expands the conventional point of light into an oval spot. Optical averaging compensates for any unevenness of the target surface. The oval spot and intelligent software algorithms filter out disturbances caused by surface roughness, indentations or small holes on the surface. They also help to compensate for the laser penetrating into the surface. The sensor is suitable for both dynamic and high-resolution measurement tasks, and is particularly useful for tasks that involve a distance change in the z-axis. With movements in the x- or y-axis on the target, the measurement values are more stable than those from comparable point laser sensors. The sensor is available in measuring ranges of 2, 10 and 25mm. Micro-Epsilon’s optoNCDT 1900 point sensors are now available in seven versions with measuring ranges of 2, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 or 500mm. These improvements are said to result in simpler actuator control and increased positioning accuracy for the sixth-generation RUE-F assembles. When fitted on the main axis of a machine tool, the assemblies improve surface finish quality, while their lower displacement forces cut energy consumption and actuator operating costs, especially in high-cycle axes. Redesigned lubrication ducts ensure optimal lubricant distribution to all four raceways, irrespective of carriage mounting position, cutting lubricant consumption by up to 50%. The guides are said to increase the reliability of machines and to extend their service lives. The reduced lubricant consumption cuts procurement and disposal costs, as well as oil separation costs for machines that use cooling lubricants. The seals have been designed to accommodate the trend towards integrated machining centres that combine different production technologies. Schaeffler www.schaeffler.com Norelem has added a coaxial electric rotary stage to its manual stages, enabling quick and accurate positioning. The electric stages allow angular positions to be set precisely and repeatably to within 0.001mm. They can be used with handling systems, machine tools or measuring equipment that require motorised adjustment and positioning. The quiet stages need little maintenance. Free programming software allows them to be integrated into motion systems. Pre-tensioned worm gears operate with almost no backlash, while the worm shaft bearing offers maximum radial rotation accuracy. Cables can be routed through a large hole in the hollow shaft and, using an adjustable positioning ring, a rotation reference point can be set to the position of the mounted component. There are 18 versions, in size 8 with a gear ratio of 40:1, or size 12 with a gear ratio of 55:1, and a maximum output torque of 1.2 or 3Nm. The stages can be bought with or without a motor and/or controller. The housings and turntables are made from anodised aluminium, while the hollow shaft is stainless steel. A function built into the “high-coded” D41 switch prevents it from being deactivated by tampering. The combination of sensor and actuator is fixed by pairing with more than 1,000 available variations. The compact non-contact D41D switch fits into tight spaces inside machines and does not hinder entry through opening. Pairing of all series- connected switches can be done at once, cutting design and commissioning times. The D41L guard lock has a hygienic design that prevents water and foreign matter from collecting, while Ecolab-certified detergent resistance allows quick and easy cleaning. The lock has a high tolerance for guard misalignments.
