47 www.drivesncontrols.com February 2022 NEW PRODUCTS n Wenglor has added eight inductive sensors in compact D3 and M4 housings to its I03 and I04 series for detecting metallic objects in tight spaces. Not much larger than a pin head, the stainless-steel sensors are 22mm long. The 3mm-diameter D3 sensors have smooth housings, while the 4mm-diameter I04 series have external threads. Switching distances of up to 1mm, robust PUR cable connections, IP67 protection and a temperature range of –25 to +70°C, ensure high performance and long service lives. A LED adjustment aid simplifies installation and indicates status, even over long distances. www.wenglor.com Wago has become a partner for Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX open automation platform. As a first step, it is supporting open and easy connection of its I/O System 750 and I/O Field System to the ctrlX Core control platform via EtherCat. www.wago.com Micro-Epsilon has extended its thicknessGauge range of inline thickness measurement systems with an O-frame version for precise thickness measurements of plastic strip, coatings, film and sheet materials, up to 3mm thick, and for web widths up to 1,250mm.The out- of-the-box thickness gauging and quality control systemoffers precise measurements from±0.3μm and is said to fill a gap between basic thickness sensors and higher-cost, dedicated inline systems. www.micro-epsilon.co.uk Camozzi Automation has extended its Series D valve islands with two new versions: Size 2 (16mm) and Size 5 (10.5 and 16mmwith a common multipole or fieldbus connection). The aluminium islands support flow rates from 250–2,000 Nl/min and offer expandable pneumatic and electrical functions in restricted spaces. Data, including power consumption, is analysed by algorithms to determine the real-time health status of the coils. www.camozzi.co.uk Cognex ’s VisionPro vision software has two new releases: VisionPro 10.0, which delivers faster application performance and simpler application set-up; andVisionPro Deep Learning 2.0 which combines deep learning and traditional vision tools. The releases also add advanced tools for gauging and inspection applications. SmartLine – the industry’s first hybrid smart tool – combines deep learning and enhanced line-finding for complex scenes with precise positional data. A newVisionPro Deep Learning high- detail segmenter is aimed at applications needing precise measurement of scratches and other defects. www.cognex.com Fluke has announced what it claims is the first handheld tool for performing live tests on fibre optics and identifying polarity issues and failed transceivers. The FiberLert tool detects invisible near-infrared (850- 1625nm) wavelengths used in fibre-optic communications to troubleshoot cables, ports, polarity and transceiver issues. Designed for one-handed operation, the tool allows users to test for the presence of near infra-red light without needing complicated setups, or having to interpret the data. When placed in front of an active fibre optic port or patch cord, the tester emits a continuous light and an optional tone. The new tool avoids having to guess the cause of comms issues by indicating where signals are present, and where they are not. This allows users to pinpoint and remedy problems such as failed transceivers or patch cords. It supports single-mode, multi- mode, UPC/APC patch cords and ports, and can test without making contact with the port or patch cord, reducing the risk of contamination or damage. The DT50 electronically commutated frameless motor is the precursor to a new family developed for dynamic movements. The brushless motor is especially suitable for applications where speeds can change quickly – as in robots. Despite a stator with an outer diameter of only 50mm, it delivers a nominal torque of more than 500mNm at 4,000 rpm. A new winding technology results in a short length and a 28mm hollow shaft. The ECX flat external-rotor motors can be configured online. They use a special winding technology and segmented magnets to optimise performance. The iron-wound motors are available with diameters of 22, 32 and 42mm, in short or long versions. maxon UK and Ireland 01189 733 337 www.maxongroup.co.uk Pocket-sized tool is ‘first’ for testing live fibre optics Compact motors are aimed at robot applications IDS (Imaging Development Systems) says that its latest machine vision cameras are the smallest available with C- mounts. The uEye+ XCP cameras measure 29 x 29 x 17mm and have a closed zinc die-cast housing with a screwable USB Micro-B connector. They have “cost- optimised” electronics and are compatible with common lenses, making them suitable for price-sensitive applications. The cameras are aimed at users who are more interested in low-cost, compact, lightweight industrial cameras, than high- level machine vision systems. They can be used, for example, to provide visual support for robots, to guide AGVs or for analysis tasks in laboratories. Initially, the cameras will be available with 2.3 megapixel shutter sensors or 5MP rolling shutter sensors. Other sensor types will follow. Support for USB3 and Vision Standard compatibility (U3V/GenICam), means that the cameras can be integrated easily into image processing systems.
