T he Manufacturing Technology Centre – part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult – is playing a key role at the Drives & Controls Show and its associated events. The MTC will have a large stand at the centre of the extravaganza and experts from the Centre will be taking part in panel discussions as part of the Talking Industry Live event. “We’re delighted to be showcasing our capabilities at Drives & Controls this year,” says the MTC’s group marketing director, Richard Watkins (right). “While we continue to celebrate the resilience of UK manufacturing, the sector faces a number of challenges as we emerge from the pandemic, and with a key focus on sustainable manufacturing and the drive for a net-zero economy, there are plenty of opportunities for manufacturers. We want to highlight the help available to manufacturers on this journey. “At the show,”Watkins explains, “we will be showcasing some of the practical support available from organisations such as the MTC and our wider High Value Manufacturing Catapult network – from new processes and technologies to supporting skills, productivity and growth across the UK manufacturing industry. “We will also have some of our technology demonstrators on show, and our team will be on hand to discuss how manufacturers can access support and Government funding to accelerate productivity and growth.” n At the Drives & Controls Show, Mitsubishi Electric will be showcasing how Time- Sensitive Networking (TSN) can help to create future-oriented IIoT applications. CC-Link IE TSN is the first open Gigabit industrial Ethernet technology that supports TSN connections, facilitating both convergence and determinism. It can help to merge IT and OT (operational technology) to enable data- driven decision-making, while supporting high- speed, time-critical shopfloor communications. On its stand at the Drives Show, Mitsubishi will be demonstrating how CC-Link IE TSN can improve productivity by enabling data convergence and can help to deliver smart manufacturing installations that provide accurate predictive insights to optimise operations. As well as recent developments in PLCs, HMIs, drives and robots, visitors to Mitsubishi’s stand will be able to find out about Iconics’ advanced visualisation suite. The company will also be showing the results of a collaboration with the industrial automation cyber-security specialist, Radiflow.
