NIDEC LEROY-SOMER HAS developed a range of super-premium efficiency permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motors which, it says, combine the easy set-up of induction motors with the performance of synchronous permanent magnet technologies, as well as offering “significant advances” in terms of their use with smart drives. The Dyneo+ motors achieve energy efficiencies above IE5 to reach the highest levels of the IEC 60034-30-2 and Nema Super Premium / Ultra-Premium standards. Leroy-Somer claims that the motors will deliver the lowest TCO (total cost of ownership) on the market. Designed for variable-speed applications, the motors can be used with Leroy’s Powerdrive F300 and new Bluetooth-enabled Powerdrive MD Smart variable-speed drives. An interactive application called Systemiz provides a variety of digital services to exchange information between the drives and motors, and to trigger subsequent actions. By scanning a QR code on the motor nameplate, the app – which runs on mobile devices – gives direct access to the motor parameters for easy set-ups. A configurable interface module for the Powerdrive MD Smart drive can be used to set up predictive maintenance with the help of customised alarm generation and diagnostic tools. The Dyneo+ motors cover power ratings from 11-430kW and speeds up to 6,000 rpm. There are two variants: n a version that is interchangeable with standard IEC motors, allowing it to be used in existing applications without any modifications; and n a compact version claimed to have one of the highest power-to-weight ratios on the market, designed for applications with limited space, and to optimise energy consumption. There are IP55 versions with aluminium housings (the LSHRM range), IP23 versions with steel housings (PLSHRM), and a cast-iron range (FLSHRM) suitable for aggressive environments or applications exposed to severe mechanical stresses. The new motors can be used with or without position feedback sensors. They offer accurate speed and torque control, and constant torque over extended speed ranges, with no need for derating or forced ventilation. They can also deliver high torque at high speeds. High starting performance in the sensorless mode avoids the need for an encoder. https://acim.nidec.com/motors/leroy-somer TECHNOLOGY n IE5 motors combine best of induction and synchronous PMmachines Nidec Leroy-Somer Dyneo+ permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motors have been designed to work with matching smart drives
