The modular N-220-2.7 robot offers direct kinematics, absolute calibration and enhanced algorithms, and is said to deliver significant benefits in terms of ease of use, integration, maintenance, flexibility, repeatability and backlash. With a wide working area and PL d safety, the arm is said to address the need for cost- effective, easy-to-integrate robots that deliver high-speed performance. Its modular architecture makes it easier to install, use and maintain. Comau’s e-Motion software algorithm improves cycle time, motion quality and path control. The N-220 uses only two motor sizes, and one type of oil, simplifying the replacement of faulty motors. The number of components has been halved, making maintenance easier and extending the MTBF. Direct connections between motors and gearboxes simplify the mechanical transmissions and minimise power losses and backlash, thus boosting efficiency. The terminals, part of the GOT Simple series, have 15MB of onboard memory for saving screen designs. SDHCmemory cards can be used to log operations for enhanced traceability. This can be useful for validating operations as well as troubleshooting when identifying incorrect operation or the causes of problems. Outline fonts offer clear on-screen text by smoothing character edges. The terminals offer Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 support, making connection of devices such as temperature controllers and Modbus peripherals easier. It allows a common bus to be used when regenerative and low harmonics are not required. The supply converts three-phase AC line voltages to DC. It must be paired with a drive withTotalForce technology to be considered TotalForce. But it can also serve as a non-regenerative DC power supply for common bus applications, which are notTotalForce. The supply is available in 6- and 12- pulse configurations with XT corrosive gas protection. www.rockwellautomation.com Aerotech has launched the second generation of its Ant nanopositioning stages with improved dynamics and precision, and new travel ranges. The Ant95 and Ant130 nanopositioners provide positional stability and minimal incremental motion in the sub- nanometre range. They are suitable for single- and multi-axis applications that require precision movements with high throughput. They offer non-contact direct-drive technology, and precise guides and incremental movements, while maintaining high product throughput. www.aerotech.com 2,700-page catalogue contains 10,000 new components The 2022 edition of norelem 's The Big Green Book catalogue contains at least 10,000 components more than the previous edition, taking the total to over 70,000. The two-volume catalogue runs to more than 2,700 pages, listing data, components and reference guides. A new printing technology has reduced CO 2 emissions in its production by up to 52%, making the 2022 catalogue the greenest yet, according to norelem. The book introduces a range of pneumatic cylinders as well as carriage guides which enable positioning and movements both horizontally and vertically. There is also a new product category covering electromechanical components for control and regulation. The catalogue is available in a printed version or as a PDF. https://norelem.co.uk/en/chooseBookPage Companies join forces to promote Single-Pair Ethernet Harting, Analog Devices and Würth Elektronik have joined forces to promote Single Pair Ethernet in cooperation with Mouser , under the motto “Single is More”. To strengthen industrial uses of the Ethernet variant, which was originally developed for the automotive industry, the four companies have summarised their SPE-compatible products and are offering other SPE resources on a joint landing page. They are providing White Papers, videos and other resources on the topic of 10Base-T1L. https://eng.info.mouser.com/adi-wurth-harting-single-pair-ethernet Industrial AI framework will enable next-generation IIoT applications The Industry IoT Consortium (IIC) has published an Industrial IoT Artificial Intelligence Framework (IIAIF) which highlights how AI can enable next-generation Industrial IoT (IIoT) systems and address emerging requirements and challenges. The framework aims to accelerate adoption of AI-enabled IIoT systems and bring the benefits of digital transformation to more applications and sectors. The IIAIF brings together IT and OT perspectives and considers aspects of next- generation AI-enabled IIoT systems. For instance, it addresses value, implementation challenges and architectural decisions, and offers application examples. The IIC says that AI-enabled IIoT systems will deliver better insights, faster decision-making andmore effective operations. https://drivesncontrols.news/ajv5xc Videos explore automation and control technologies Digi-Key Electronics has launched a series of four videos, sponsored by Omron and Siemens , that explore automation and control technologies. The first video in the Revolutionising Automation series includes conversations with Siemens experts at about its TIA Portal. The second looks at how Digi-Key is using robotics technologies from Omron and others to automate its new warehouse. The third video focuses on Siemens products used in the new facility. And the fourth highlights how automation systems can help to keep workers safe. www.digikey.co.uk
