PPMA SHOW PREVIEW n PPMA returns The PPMA Show returns to the NEC Birmingham from 26-28 September, targeting the production line market. The organisers at the Processing and Packaging Machinery Association say there will be something for everyone involved in processing and packaging machinery, robotics and industrial vision systems. They add that more than 2,650 brands will be represented at the event. The show is aimed at purchasers and engineers from industries including food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, household products and toiletries, building materials and supplies, pet care, breweries and distilleries, FMCG, as well as contract packing. Visitors will be able to take advantage of networking opportunities and witness live demonstrations. They will be able to source new ideas and meet technical experts and potential new suppliers. “Between the 350+ companies exhibiting, there are thousands of years of experience in packaging, processing and automation machinery,” says the show’s director, Richard Little. “Visitors are encouraged to bring their problems and requirements to the show. There will be people in the show who know what to do and there will be plenty of machines to look at actually doing it.” Some of the companies exhibiting include Advanced Conveyor Group, AMP Automation, Balluff, Beckhoff, BrilloPak, Clearview Imaging, Elesa, Endoline, Epson, Excel Packaging Machinery, Fortress Technology, Harting, HepcoMotion, Idem Safety Switches, IKO, Interroll, Ixon, Lafert Electric Motors, Lamonde Automation, Leap Automation, Mechan Controls, Minebea Intec, MiR, OnRobot, RHM Group, Schmalz, SMC Pneumatics, Telemecanique Sensors, Trio Motion Technology, Vega Controls, Wieland and Wittenstein. One PPMA stalwart is Omron which will be demonstrating this year how machinebuilders and end-users can improve efficiency and uptime by deploying artificial intelligence (AI) in two crucial areas: intelligent machine control and fault detection and remediation using augmented reality (AR). Omron's demonstration will showcase the power of applied AI in remote digital troubleshooting. Using AR glasses, in-house engineers can collaborate with remote experts to diagnose and resolve machine malfunctions, minimising downtime and its impact on production. The benefits extend beyond operational efficiency, as this approach also helps companies to reduce their carbon footprints and enhance their efficiency. No matter what your level of interest or expertise in the processing and packaging industry, the upcoming PPMA Show is likely to have something for you. PPMA Show 2023 is free to attend.
