Megadyne presented its versatile and customisable range of transmission belts – synchronous rubber and polyurethane straps, with pulleys; trapezoidal belts in rubber and a wide variety of special rework for different industrial applications. New products were also shown; including the range of Hybrid belts for the hygienic, food and packaging sectors, which combine tapes with synchronous belts; The new electro- conductive belt Megapower EC; The special Megalinear ID, with a microchip capable of transmitting data to smartphones or other devices; Megawire, a new solution for feeding small motors in the handling of materials (belt cables transmit electrical signals and power simultaneously). ATAM ATAM, the manufacturer of encapsulated coils and industrial connections, announced an additional increase in its production of custom thermosetting epoxy resin moulded coils at Hannover Messe. The update of the presses inserted in the IoT system has made this development possible. The addition of presses for epoxy resin to the company’s lean system allows ATAM to manufacture over one million thermosetting over-moulded coils per year. Thermosetting epoxy resin over- moulded coils belong to the range of custom coils for solenoid valves that ATAM designs, manufactures, and distributes for the pneumatic, hydraulic, and process valves industries. Today, custom coils – whether designed from scratch or adapted to specific requirements based on standard products – represent 70% of ATAM’s production, thus confirming the company’s inclination towards customisation. CLPA The CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) reported a successful debut at Hannover Messe 2019. Taking centre stage was the association’s latest technology, CC-Link IE TSN. This is the first open industrial Ethernet that combines Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) and Gigabit capabilities to offer unmatched performance for Industry 4.0 applications. The CLPA’s biggest stand ever was built for its debut at Hannover Messe. This decision was driven by the increasing demand for the association’s open automation networks, which are also fuelling its strong international growth. During the event, CLPA attracted a large attendance to its booth and its numerous presentations. High levels of interest were shown for CC-Link IE TSN and its TSN technology. The latter was launched last November at SPS/IPC/Drives 2018 and marks a big step forward in open industrial Ethernet. Emerson Emerson introduced the Aventics AF2 pneumatic systems flow sensor. The sensor monitors energy losses which helps to prevent machine breakdowns and costs associated with excessive air consumption. It continuously monitors the air consumption in pneumatic systems enabling compliance with the Energy Management standard DIN ISO 50001. Suitable for use in many industries, the device is just one of many components available from Emerson for networked plants in factory automation, known as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). An Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display on the AF2 provides local indication of all relevant operating and diagnostic data. The flow sensor is available as a NO (normally open) and NC (normally closed) version. Analogue outputs can be switched with a signal from 4 to 20 mA. These signals can be interpreted directly by many controllers. Another possibility for communication is the IO-Link capability of the sensor and the Ethernet interface, enabling customers to use the optimum device to communicate with existing controllers. Ericsson and Comau Ericsson and Comau showed the Digital Twin enabled by the 5G connectivity. This project represents a further step in the long-lasting partnership between Ericsson and Comau aimed at developing new use cases and solutions for Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing, due to the potential offered by the fifth-generation mobile technology. Comau and Ericsson displayed the digitised version of an assembly line in an automotive plant. Using special glasses for Virtual Reality applications, visitors were immersed in the line and could ‘move’ within it, monitoring the key parameters of the processes and of the machines, such as vibrations, temperature, pressures and absorptions. A Virtual Reality digital dashboard, which can be used with a standard tablet, will identify situations that could create slowdowns or interruptions in the process by providing instructions to tackle the problem effectively. The features of 5G connectivity allow to collect a stable, continuous and massive flow of data in real-time that is vital for automation processes. Festo Festo showcased the new Future and Bionic Concepts along with further German chancellor, Angela Merkel, during her tour of exhibitors at the event.
