NEWS Distag has relocated its Lisburn hose assembly business unit to its new 30,000 sq ft purpose-built premises in Dungannon. The company will now house its steel tube manipulation and hose assembly in one building. The new facility will host Distag’s hydraulic steel tube, hose assembly, hydraulic hose & fittings, and trailer parts divisions, in one building and see the creation of 10 new jobs in the Dungannon area. The company comments that consolidating all its hydraulics operations into one building will greatly enhance its efficiency and allow it to continue to provide an excellent service throughout Northern Ireland. All the company’s frontline staff have transferred from Lisburn to the new building. Distag has also retained the same phone number for greater customer convenience. Having increased the area of its warehouse by three times that of its Lisburn site, Distag customers can also benefit from having a much larger stocked product range available to add to their deliveries. Centre of engineering excellence Managing director, Joe Deacon, overseeing the entire project, spoke about why Dungannon is the perfect site 12 HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS July/August 2019 www.hpmag.co.uk for the latest phase of Distag’s ambitious growth plans. “The new facility is at the centre of an area which is home to some of the most dynamic machine manufacturers in the world. It is being equipped with the latest state-of-the-art machinery, a vast stock of components, and it is our aim to provide a centre of engineering excellence for this area and beyond.” The new development will house production areas, warehouse space and an office complex; and it will be the first unit to be completed on the New Brick Works Development. This new branch in Dungannon will now see the relocation of Distag Lisburn to the new premises and will complement the other Distag QCS premises in Tullow, Co Carlow; and Ipswich, Suffolk. This development has been driven by a number of critical factors, including: 1. to expand the Hydraulic steel tube division; 2. be well prepared in the event of a ‘No Deal Brexit’; and 3. to better serve the company’s manufacturing customers in Tyrone and the surrounding counties. The award-winning Brighouse company has invested more than £100K this year alone in its hire fleet and now has three state-of-the-art machines to complement its already extensive range: a GA75VSD+FF, a GA110VSD+ and a GA90VSD+. These variable speed drive machines lead the way in energy efficiency, offering up to a 50% reduction on energy bills and delivering a more environmentally friendly profile. The hire machines can be swiftly installed to cover emergency situations such as breakdowns, as part of the company’s genuine 24/7 emergency call- out offer, or as short-term support during planned shutdowns. They can also be used to boost capacity during busy times, for contingency planning or for research and development purposes. Smaller footprint and reduced weight Because of their upright design, smaller footprint and reduced weight, the new air compressors can be delivered by the company’s own transport, making the hire a speedier and more cost-effective option. Managing director Ian Harrison said: “This expansion of our hire fleet shows our commitment to ensuring that our customers have the compressed air solutions they need, as and when they need them.” The new air compressors can be hired on a short-term or long-term basis and the company’s experienced team will be able to recommend the best machine for the required application.
