For the first time, SPE Offshore Europe is partnering with the Financial Times on the one-day FT Oil & Gas Finance and Investment Forum which is exploring the role of finance in the industry. Sir Ian Wood will give the opening keynote on 4 September, taking to the stage with senior leaders from operators including BP, Equinor, Lundin Petroleum, Neptune Energy, Repsol and Siccar Point as well as representatives from the International Energy Industry (IEA), investment banks and advisers. The first StartUp Village, organised by OGTC and social enterprise, Elevator, is sold-out with 60 start-up companies rotating every day on 16 pods. TechX has organised the theatre content which will consist of pitch battles between the start- up exhibitors. After a successful introduction two years ago, the 2019 event will include an expanded Decommissioning Zone to include late life with a conference programme organised by Decomm North Sea, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Society for Underwater Technology (SUT), Subsea UK and Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC). An ENGenious Zone is being incorporated into the show after the success of the inaugural event in Aberdeen in 2018. New exhibition director Simon Marshall was recently appointed as exhibition director for SPE Offshore Europe ahead of this year’s event. He will oversee the strategic direction of the exhibition as it evolves in-line with the energy transition to a low carbon future. Marshall joins from ITE Group plc where he was head of oil & gas for events focused on Russia and Central Asia. He has worked in the energy sector for more than 10 years, starting his career at Platts before launching investor summits for international energy ministries in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He was the project and commercial lead for the World Energy Congress 2016 in Istanbul and has recently completed an MBA in International Oil & Gas Management at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) in Dundee. In addition to featuring the latest developments in its IDMS (Integrity Data Management System) bolting software, the Hydratight stand will include details of ECITB Mechanical Joint Integrity and with On-Site Machining training. As part of its combined product and service offering for offshore operators, hydraulic tool specialist Enerpac is also presenting its range of high-performance bolting torque wrenches, hydraulic cylinders, pumps and subsea tensioning tools for subsea and topside projects. New tools on the stand will include pipeline flange alignment, spreading and cutting tools, and new LG-Series Lock Grip Pullers.
