Industrial and Marine Hydraulics (IMH) has recruited an operations manager and service manager to support its project and service teams. Headquartered in Middlesbrough, UK, IMH delivers major hydraulic engineering projects and offers services across design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repairs, as well as component supplies and training. The appointments have been made in line with IMH’s five- year growth plan. This has seen the business open a new facility at the Port of Blyth, which is equipped to provide full onsite service and inspection operations, and make significant investments in machinery and an ERP system, which is reshaping how the business operates and is generating process efficiencies. Jonathan Marley has been appointed as operations manager. He has 14 years project and operational management experience and performed a number of roles at pumping solutions specialist Sulzer. Marley will have day-to-day responsibility for operational efficiency and quality control across the service and maintenance work streams of IMH and will manage the execution of all longer-term major project commitments. Joining as part of the senior management team, he will also be responsible for PCL has strengthened its UK team with the welcome addition of national sales manager Alan Findlow, who is committed to supporting businesses through the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic and beyond. With extensive experience of working with ends users and distributors both at home and abroad, Alan will use his knowledge and expertise to help companies whose operations have been affected, formulating short term solutions whilst looking ahead to strategies for recovery. Findlow has moved into the pneumatics market from a role within environmental waste management. Prior to that he worked within business supplies and workwear, where a range of remits included the development of global distribution. He therefore brings substantial sales and business acumen to PCL, where he will focus on the UK market for tyre inflation and compressed air equipment. Currently operating from home, with the Sheffield head office as his usual base, he is looking forward to adding value to relationships with distributors and identifying ways to improve end user sales. Findlow was attracted to PCL due to the company’s impressive industry performance and ‘Made in Sheffield’ products. “To work for a world leader that still has a UK production facility is a strong message to be able to take out to market,” he comments. “There is always going to be a demand for these products. “For me the role of national sales manager is about moving from a transactional relationship to value added partnerships, where we can assist in driving sales forward by using our knowledge and expertise as well as our products.” An unexpected duty is to help companies impacted by the Coronavirus. Production at PCL initially ceased following Government instructions, however more recent announcements mean operations are about to recommence as PCL supplies to the essential workforce, including the emergency services. PCL welcomes new national sales manager Peter McCall has recently joined Meteor Impact Sockets Ltd to focus on the further development of sales, marketing and product development. McCall has over 25 years’ experience in the tyre and compressed air consumable distribution markets having previously worked for PCL (Pneumatic Components Ltd) since 1991, starting as an area sales manager and successfully growing that business as sales and marketing director and key board member for 12 years. Meteor was set up in 2014 by a local Rutland business entrepreneur who had the opportunity to work with a Taiwan manufacturer and initially employed Jill, McCall’s wife to provide and analyse relevant market data, and then to head up and manage all aspects of the business including developing the sales and customer base. The opportunity to purchase the business came along later and with Peter looking for a new opportunity to add value and demonstrate his skills the new Meteor Impact Socket husband and wife team has emerged. McCall comments that Meteor wants to continue to focus on supporting B2B distributor sales offering very high quality products, very competitive price and excellent customer service and has spent his initial time setting up the solid foundations for the business future integrating the warehouse and logistics, introducing a new inventory management system which seamlessly links to our accounting software, and developing and launching a new website all in preparation to support our future business and product growth strategy.
