Slack & Parr is an established designer and manufacturer of high precision gear metering pumps and rotary geared flow dividers. Edward Barrington took over as managing director last autumn following in the footsteps of his father Tim Barrington and grandfather. As such, he became the youngest MD to hold this position in company’s long history. Tim Barrington, present company chairman, has looked after the hydraulics arm of the business for over 35 years and welcomes the appointment of Neil Anderton, which will allow him to step back into semi-retirement. Having known Neil professionally for many years, Edward and Tim believed that bringing him back onboard after 5 years away was an integral move to enhance the future of the company and build the team. “Neil’s experience, integrity and immense knowledge will have a huge impact on the company as we venture forward,” says Edward. “He is just the right person to develop and grow our hydraulics sector.” Anderton’s addition to the team puts him alongside fellow colleagues Paul Wykes (global sales director) and Richard Wilson (operations director). With Edward, the four of them have more than a century of combined experience working within the industry at Slack and Parr; all of them having started their careers as apprentices for the Kegworth- based company. Like coming home Anderton comments: “It’s like coming home. I started as an apprentice at Slack & Parr when I was 16 and was initially here for over 30 years. I’m very happy now to be part of this exciting team as we head into our next 100 years.” He adds that with the new factory nearing completion and launching next year, this is the best time to be back onboard to maintain Slack & Parr’s position as a world leader in this industry. More news on the new facility that Slack & Parr will move into will emerge in the next few months. The 10-year project and multi-million-pound investment has been designed ultimately to power production efficiencies, adhere to delivery dates and advance employee welfare. Edward Barrington comments: “It’s a great time to be welcoming Neil back and incorporating him into our management team. With the new factory nearly completed, he will play a valuable role in the growing hydraulics sector of our markets.” From left to right: Paul Wykes, Edward Barrington, Richard Wilson and Neil Anderton.
