EvoFluid Hydraulics UK Ltd has appointed Bryan Truslove as its new warehouse manager. Truslove’s main tasks include organising the daily shipments to customers from the warehouse as well as helping out in the production area, ensuring all the hoses are produced to specification and on time. He also helps out in internal sales. Truslove has been in the fluid power industry since 1986 when he worked with EvoFluid Hydraulics UK’s managing director, Mick Emery, at Varney Hydraulics. Emery and Truslove then left the company and helped to create IMM Hydraulics, where they remained for 16 years. “Bryan has a wealth of knowledge and is very well-known in the fluid power industry, having worked both in the warehouse and in internal sales, two areas that he enjoys immensely and which he is very good at,” says Emery. “Bryan is looking forward to speaking with many of his old contacts over the coming weeks.” Emery explains the background behind the appointment. “We were looking for a warehouse operative, but after Bryan contacted us to enquire whether we would be interested in his skillsets within Evo, we realised that the position of warehouse manager would fit the bill perfectly, both for Bryan and ourselves working as a team just like the old days. We were looking to the future and knew that Bryan could add a lot to our existing strengths. Another advantage is that Bryan lives only five minutes from our warehouse in Oldbury, West Midlands.” Outside work, Truslove likes spending time with his family, as well as supporting and going to watch West Bromwich Albion FC. He is also a keen golfer. Another new recruit at EvoFluid Hydraulics is apprentice George Doyle (17). As well as being involved in tasks in the warehouse and those related to equipment maintenance, Doyle will be instructed in the task of making hose assemblies. Additionally, he will be studying for an MBQ Level 2 qualification at the local Sandwell College. “College representatives will visit our site once a month to assess George’s progress,” explains Emery. “We expect that he will achieve his accreditation after one year. Once this is achieved, George will be given a full-time position within the company.” In his spare time, Doyle competes as an amateur boxer. He is also a football enthusiast and plays in a local five-a-side team. Hertz Kompressoren UK – the supplier of industrial air compressors, portable/mobile compressors, inverter/variable compressor, marine compressors, refrigerant dryers, inline filters and spare parts – recently appointed Daniel Calvert as its new operations engineer. Calvert, 34, previously worked for Pipeline Industries Ltd, a company that, like Hertz Kompressoren, operated on the Peel Mills Industrial Estate in Bury, Manchester. He began work with Pipeline Industries when he was 19. When the company’s managing director retired last year, Hertz Kompressoren managing director, Graeme Middleton-Duff, approached Calvert to offer him his current position. Calvert’s current daily tasks at Hertz Kompressoren’s Bury site include preparing the compressors and other equipment for dispatch to Hertz Kompressoren’s distributors or directly to customers. He also ensures all the spares orders are distributed. Out in the field, Calvert maintains, services and installs compressors and dryers at customer’s sites throughout the UK and Ireland. “When visiting a customer site, I normally work diligently if the job involves repairs or commissioning,” explains Calvert. “However, if the work involves installation our team will cover what is required in good time.” To enhance his compressor knowledge further, Calvert is currently undertaking e- learning British Compressed Air (BCAS) training courses; this includes working towards completion of the DipCAM qualification, which sets out to provide a comprehensive technical grounding in the principles of the operation of compressed air systems. “Of course, because of the pandemic, face-to-face training hasn’t been possible,” explains Calvert. “However, the BCAS courses are very well-designed for online tuition, and they’ve really helped me to fill in the knowledge gaps over the past few weeks.” From a business perspective, Calvert points out that the company is currently very busy serving all its target sectors, including marine, agriculture and construction. Graeme Middleton-Duff, comments: “Since Daniel came on board his abilities, diligence and commitment have been plain to see. He already has a sound understanding of compressor and dryer technology and has shown this time and again at our site and in the field serving customers. Furthermore, I’m sure his BCAS training will be the ideal foundation to progress his activities within the company. After providing Daniel with a thorough grounding in preparing and dispatching the equipment to distributors and customers, together with all the required competencies regarding maintenance, servicing and installation, he has truly excelled in all the tasks put before him and continues to do so, building his knowledge and experience along the way.” In his spare time, Calvert particularly enjoys playing computer games with his 11year-old son. www.hpmag.co.uk HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS July/August 2021 141 New recruits at EvoFluid Hydraulics UK Ltd NEW FACES Operations engineer appointment at Hertz Kompressoren Ltd UK Bryan Truslove.
