Former apprentice Owen Miles has been shortlisted for the award, following the completion of his Engineering Apprenticeship last year. Miles comments: “I am proud to represent Hydraforce when it comes to being shortlisted for the Made in the Midlands Apprentice of the Year Award. Throughout my apprenticeship I can only commend Hydraforce for its support and guidance. As someone who has been through most forms of education, I can say wholeheartedly that apprenticeships are the future of all education and I only wish I knew about them sooner.” Miles successfully completed his four- year apprenticeship in December 2021, before being quickly promoted to junior manufacturing engineer at HydraForce Ltd. In addition to his apprenticeship, Miles also graduated with a Foundation Degree in Electrical & Electronic Control Engineering, which is the area he now specialises in as part of his new role. Motivation Jon Bradley, managing director of HydraForce, comments: “Like all HydraForce apprentices, Owen Miles is a highly talented and motivated young engineer. At 24 years old he is technically excellent and a natural leader, who always delivers the desired objective whatever the circumstances. The most defining feature of Owen, however, is his integrity, as he can always be relied upon to do the right thing.” Miles is one of three candidates who will be competing in this category at the awards ceremony later this year, alongside two nominees from Sertec Group. HydraForce has seen success at the Made in the Midlands awards in previous years, after winning the Apprentice of the Year Award 2019, and achieving Manufacturer of the Year in 2016. This year’s award ceremony will take place on Thursday 26 May 2022 at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham. www.hydraforce.com HydraForce apprentice shortlisted for Made in the Midlands Award 2022 Owen Miles has been shortlisted for the Made in the Midlands Award, following the completion of his Engineering Apprenticeship last year.
