COMPRESSED AIR 42 HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS January/February 2023 www.hpmag.co.uk Codelen, a Spanish manufacturer of cardboard and microflute packaging, chose the EG Series EG37V from ELGi Compressors Europe to modernise the compressed air system at its plant in Elche, Spain. Codelen was looking for a new compressed air solution to replace the aging equipment powering its production line of food-grade cardboard boxes. To find the right equipment that would deliver a reliable source of air and energy savings, Codelen reached out to Ilice Compressores SL, one of ELGi’s Channel Partners in Spain. Following thorough research of the advanced compressed air solutions available on the market and trusting in the advice of Ilice, Codelen selected an ELGi EG37V oil-lubricated screw air compressor with variable speed to meet their needs. José Maraldés Espuig, technical manager at Codelen, says: “Our production capabilities have been ramping up, and to deliver high-quality products, we needed to modernise our compressed air system. We knew we needed a solution that could be a reliable source of air and deliver better efficiency and energy savings. We have had a very good relationship with Ilice, and we trusted them to offer us the best solution to address our needs. We did our research together and choosing the ELGi EG37V was simple. “It was also the right one. Since the installation, the compressor has delivered stable and reliable compressed air efficiently. We also noted lower energy consumption compared to the previous system. Aside, the service and maintenance plan offered by ELGi and Ilice keep our operations running without interruptions.” Codelen is a company with over two decades of experience in packaging solutions. Specialising in restaurant and food product packaging, Codelen produces different types of boxes, wrappers and cardboard displays. Codelen’s philosophy emphasises having the most efficient and sustainable production process, which uses recyclable, reusable, biodegradable and compostable materials. Close collaboration Victor Escolano Marco, regional manager Iberia, at ELGi, says: “At ELGi, we seek to meet customer needs by offering them a portfolio of solutions characterised by high performance, reliability and one of the lowest total costs of ownership. Through close collaboration with our Channel Partners, we can offer customers like Codelen an excellent product and the best solution and service tailored to their process needs for the vertical market they operate in. The EG Series chosen by Codelen stands out for its patented technologies, high efficiency, and ten-year market-leading warranty on the airend.” The sturdy design of the EG Series compressor range enables operations at extreme temperatures – from cold to hot and from dry to extremely humid conditions, leading to improved reliability of the compressed air system. ELGi’s?high-efficiency airends are equipped with in-house developed ?-V profile rotors, with the 4/5 lobe combination, designed to run at low rotor speeds. This unique design reduces pressure losses, and together with the OSBIC (Oil separation by impact and centrifugal action), 3-stage separation provides best-in-class energy efficiency.? www.elgi.com/eu Codelen modernises compressed air system with ELGi’s EG Series SPOTLIGHT SPOTLIGHT SICK has unveiled its next-generation family of large-bore hollow-shaft incremental encoders, the SICK DGS80. The company says an innovative design concept has opened up versatile integration possibilities for the DGS80 across wide-ranging industrial automation applications, aided by a radically-streamlined specification process and easy installation. The SICK DGS80 incremental encoder spans a broad range of shaft diameters up to 42mm, all within an extremely compact and rugged IP65-rated 81mm diameter housing. Starting with standard 30mm or 42mm diameter bores, the shaft size can be reduced with a large range of specially-designed insulated collets to ensure a secure connection to the application. w | www.sick.com NEXT-GENERATION HOLLOW-SHAFT ENCODERS
