Atlas Copco Compressors has announced the appointment of Ian Ainsworth as Business Line Manager, Sales and Marketing, of its Compressor Technique Service division in the UK. Ainsworth succeeds Paul Clark, who retired at the end of March 2023. Commenting on his new position, Ainsworth said: “I am looking forward to building on the work Paul and the team have done over the years. We remain committed to delivering compressed air solutions that reduce cost, increase uptime and improve energy efficiencies for our customers. Our focus will be customer-centric with an emphasis on our advanced services offering and building on and growing our customer base.” A UK citizen, Ainsworth has lived in South Africa for more than 40 years where he gained a wealth of experience to bring to his new role. He most recently worked at Atlas Copco in South Africa as Business Line Manager for Compressor Technique Service, a position he held for more than five and a half years. Prior to this, he held various sales and management roles of increasing seniority with engineering companies including Ingersoll Rand, Bilfinger and Alfa Laval. Ian is also a qualified marine engineer and holds a Bachelor’s degree in business and finance and a Master’s degree in business leadership. In his new role, Ainsworth and the nationwide Compressor Technique Service sales team will be focused on providing a wide range of services to help users identify potential energy savings and optimise the performance of their compressor room equipment and industrial gas systems. Danfoss Power Solutions, a leading global supplier of mobile and industrial hydraulics as well as electric powertrain systems, has appointed Andrew Smulski as the new president of its Fluid Conveyance division, effective immediately. Previously senior vice president of Distribution Sales, Smulski will continue to serve as a key member of the Power Solutions leadership team and will continue reporting directly to Eric Alström, president of Danfoss Power Solutions. He is based at the company’s campus in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, U.S. Smulski has a proven track record in leading large organisations and developing and implementing strategies across regions. This experience will be advantageous as he takes on overall responsibility for Fluid Conveyance activities globally. Smulski commented: “I look forward to working with the talented, passionate colleagues behind our industry-leading brands. I’ve partnered with our Fluid Conveyance team for years because our hoses, fittings, and couplings are an essential component of our distributors’ business. I’m excited to now lead the FC team and grow that business, and I’m grateful I’ll still have the opportunity to work with our wonderful distribution partners.” Alström added: “Andrew’s demonstrated passion for leading global teams, partnering with customers to solve their most challenging machine problems, and collaboratively growing with our distribution partners will be a great asset to Fluid Conveyance. He has the competencies to take this division to the next level, and I look forward to seeing how his contributions position the team and our customers for continued success.” In his previous role, Smulski merged and developed a high-performing sales organisation focused on delivering leading solutions to Danfoss Power Solutions’ distribution partners globally. Smulski joined Danfoss as part of the Eaton Hydraulics acquisition in 2021. At Eaton, he held various leadership positions within sales, program management, and marketing. He has more than 20 years of commercial and sales leadership experience in the fluid power and electrical industries. Smulski holds a degree in marketing and computer science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S., as well as an executive leader certificate from Harvard Business School. Analog Devices has announced the appointment of Alan Lee to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Lee will identify and work to advance the next-generation technologies that will disrupt and shape the semiconductor industry and its markets. He and his team will collaborate closely with ADI customers, universities, research organisations, and other strategic partners to incubate novel technologies and develop the ecosystems to support their market entry. “Alan is a seasoned technology executive who will help accelerate our leadership at the Intelligent Edge by working to expand our next-generation analogue, mixed signal, power, software, and artificial intelligence capabilities,” said ADI CEO and Chair Vincent Roche. “Alan’s breadth and depth of expertise and experience across both the technology and commercial domains will support our goal of delivering significant market impact for our customers through cutting-edge innovation. I look forward to working with him to continue pioneering the future of the Intelligent Edge.” Formerly with AMD, Lee served as its Head of Research and Advanced Development. While there, his teams developed novel hardware, software, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing technologies and were responsible for many innovations and patents over the past decade. Prior to AMD, Alan was CEO of a privately held company creating technologies for high-frequency trading and quantitative financial analysis.
