UPDATES BFPA sponsors JCB Academy Awards BFPA Appoints new Standards and Projects Administrator On Thursday, 20 July 2023, Chris Butcher, BFPA Managing Director and Martin Kingsbury, BFPA Director of Membership and Learning Development, had the pleasure of attending the JCB UTC Academy 2023 Annual Awards Evening at JCB World Headquarters in Rocester. This event is held at the end of each academic year, and celebrates the achievements of learners from the academy, sixth form and apprenticeship programmes, for both academic and personal successes. There was a great atmosphere on the night with over 200 guests attending, comprising of learners, parents, staff, governors, and corporate partners, including the BFPA, sponsoring two awards. Following a superb dinner, the winning students were awarded a variety of cash and other prizes, all donated from a wide variety of corporate sponsors. Oli Fortin-Tobin was the recipient of the Year 13 Engineering BTEC Extended Diploma Learner of the Year 2023, which was sponsored by BFPA. Chris Butcher commented: “It was a privilege to meet Oli and his parents and present him with his well-earned award. With a great education behind him, Oli has decided to join the Navy, and we wish him well in his future career.” The BFPA has sponsored The JCB Academy student awards for many years, and in May 2023, two students from the JCB Academy attended the BFPA AGM and Conference in May, and delivered an excellent presentation on University Technical Colleges (UTCs) and The JCB Academy. Chris Butcher of BFPA presents Oli Forton-Tobin with a BFPA Sponsored Award Nicky Quinn joined the BFPA as Standards and Projects Administrator in May 2023. Nicky is responsible for the co-ordination of all aspects for technical development committees, projects, and programmes primarily on a national setting, working alongside the British Standards Institutions (BSI) as an external secretariat which involves arranging, running, and managing meetings, writing the meeting minutes, and following up on outstanding actions and projects. In addition, Nicky is a key member of BFPA’s Strategy Team for Industry and Standards, which is working on several exciting new projects covering technical and sustainability aspects of fluid power.
